What Are You Watching? 2023

They really should have killed Donna off after the pilot. Who the hell was that actress?

I've just finished Vigil s2. It was not a patch on the first run (I missed the submarine and don't want to be watching sunny climes at this time of year), and eps 4 and 5 frequently had me a BIT LOST - but at the same time I liked the drone stuff, I very much enjoyed the hot gays (always lovely to see Top Heavy Steve from Sex Ed getting more to do), and I did find the ending very satisfying.

I'd not be averse to a third run, but can it just be another death on submarine please? STRANGER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED

This is on my list for Xmas.

Jacqui is pregnant in Footballers Wives

‘Jason, I ain’t slept wiv anybody else…’

‘Come on, Jacqui, the speed you get your knickers off…’

I think the general view has been that the second series of Vigil wasn't as good as the first, but I really liked it and there were some gripping moments. Aside from Queen Suranne, I also enjoyed the gays, the birdwatcher and the dubious MI5 man.

Just finished watching Smothered on Sky. Jon Pointing from Big Boys is very charming, and it features Aisling Bea, Blair Underwood and Self Esteem in supporting roles. The last episode is set at Christmas too.

Have you had any early noughties homophobia yet? I get a fuzzy warm feeling of nostalgia whenever someone’s called an ARSE BANDIT or SHIRT LIFTER!

Oh there’s lots of it.

Perhaps I am a terrible gay (or poofter in Wives lexicon) but it makes me laugh because it is all so stupid.

Travel show about Iceland. It's my dream to go there one day but it's really expensive. I even thought about taking a credit to buy a ticket but after consulting with credit card party customer service I decided that it's a bad idea. Now I try to save enough money to go there.

Is Nolly new? My dad reckons not.

I’m kinda loving it though. All camp.
It was on ITVX earlier in the year - guess they decided to throw it out on the network proper. I really enjoyed it.

I was in two minds about whether to watch the BBC Viagra trial drama Men Up, but it was charming and wonderfully played.

Belatedly I am also watching the final season of Sex Education. Still very enjoyable (especially Ruby), even though some of the changes and additions don't feel entirely seamless.

The whole of the second run of The Tourist is now up on iPlayer ahead of its first episode being shown tonight, so diving into that.

Jamie Dornan is very beardy in the opening scenes.

Is anyone else going to be watching Mr Bates vs the Post Office? Starts tonight at 9.

Not sure I'm going to bother with that one.

Add me to the list of Nolly lovers, though. Great fun.

I will be and I am preparing to be outraged. Not a fan of the scheduling over consecutive nights, but I'm a couple down on The Tourist now (very good and, spoiler alert, Dornan's excessive beard does not last long).

I have loosely followed the story and it really beggars belief. I haven’t looked at the scheduling? Is the whole thing on this week? Will the whole season be released to watch tonight?

Yes four consecutive nights this week. I don't know if ITV usually make the whole thing available straight away like the BBC do.

Wubs rich house poor house bak next weekend new miss browns boyszs tonight part to lots more

Yoooo
Bigger wofff rofff better

Finished Footballer’s Wives and forgot all the cliffhangers it ended on due to its cancellation:

- Did Tanya take the poison or did she manage to get justice for Roger (after Garry pushed him down the lift shaft) and secure her own financial future?
- Who was the father of Lucy’s baby?
- Who glassed Liberty?

What an AMAZING show but very much of its time - the drop in quality was noticeable in the fifth season without Tanya (until Zoe Lucker returned), Hazel, Conrad and Amber’s departure midway through.
