I fear this is a high risk entry. It's radio friendly nature which will crank up expectations but at the same time it's hugely staging dependent. It desperately needs something visual to make it pop while staying tasteful enough to attract juries. Rolly's vibrato during the verses will also be difficult to cover up live.

Come finals Rolly will be nervous but I worry he's not the kind to handle criticism well. He will want to have a high energy number were he confidently sashays his way around the stage. I'd hate having to be the label representative tasked with convincing him to cut a dancer or two to sure up his vocals.

Hi @ButterTart

I do feel like if this wasn’t the UK and the singer wasn’t male then the general consensus would be a lot fairer on here…

It’s easily one of the strongest songs of the year, completely different to a lot of the uptempos and, and there’s the small matter of it being Olly Fucking Alexander who we KNOW can put on a show. It definitely has a place and I can see how and where the points will come from.

Yep. I don't personally care where it finishes just so long as it finishes me off (and it does) :disco:

Beautiful gardens, eternal flowers :disco:

Olly really could not be arsed with the second verse. The song is very good, nicely produced and as noted previously I am sure (hopeful) they will look to correct the slight damp squib of the last part.

I quite like this on first listen. Will wait to see the live perf and unleashing the Vox

Olly, born in Harrogate, not aware that Harrogate hosted Eurovision.

According to Olly the performance going to be a bit surprising, quite STRONG (we hope) and have DRAMA and IMPACT

I like it but a lot will come down to draw and performance. Hopefully the interpretive writhing is not the plan for Malmö

Give it a REST!

I like this a lot, the production is excellent and it sounds great. But they’ve done the same as last year and gone for a radio hit rather than a competitive song.
I agree with this. It's a really good song, and one of my favourite entries this year and in the UK's history, but I have v little hope for it doing particularly well (and that's before I get to Olly's vox and general unappealing nature). And that's ok. We're taking Eurovision seriously AND I've got a new bop for my running playlist. Win win

WHAT IS HE WEARING? On his feet in particular :gross:

And yes HOW is he a Eurovision fan from Harrogate who DOESN'T KNOW THAT EUROVISION ONCE CAME FROM HARROGATE?

Someone at work spotted him at London Fields station recently, when I asked how he looked, they just responded ‘LIKE SHIT’.
He does have quite the unique aesthetic, like he gets dressed every morning by running head first through a charity shop window and just going with whichever garments are pinned to him by the shards of glass.

#48 on Apple music, strong start. Spotify will be the best indicator but I think he has a good shot at a top 40 debut.
