The United Kingdom: The RISHI RICH Sunak ERA

You know I used to have - I don't want to say GOOD WILL because that would be lying, but some sort of lesser hatred towards Sunak than Boris, Truss etc. I didn't think he was completely inept, just way too elitist and conservative to ever fully represent a nation. However the last few days, particularly the trans joke, has made me rethink that. There really is no light or shade from this cesspit of a party. As much as I try and be open minded they make it very easy to just fucking despise them. Sunak has proven to be just like the rest - so incredibly removed from real life that he has no understanding of nuance, empathy, and what people care about. He is so beyond ignorant and incapable of connecting with reality.

I do feel however that we're just now entering Boris/Trump territory where the horrendous behaviour and fuck ups are coming so thick and fast that people are just numb to it. So there's never really any ramifications. I don't hold my breath for an apology or any kind of punishment. I'm still waiting for some follow up on the refugee bet. That was shockingly bad and it's already been swallowed by PopCon and Transgate.

I mean I didn’t think it could get much worse than SUELLA but every day is a surprise

Shall we have some LOCAL TORY NEWS?

They're all cut from the same cloth.

this Marina Hyde piece on Truss and associated tory morons is properly laugh out loud. I love her

Someone who went to university with Kwarteng told me of the night he slept on their student house sofa after a party, vomited on it, then simply got up and left in the morning without cleaning it up. In many ways the country now lives on that sofa. :D

This feels like it would be more meaningful if Sturgeon hadn’t completely failed to turf the likes of Joanna Cherry out of the SNP whilst she had the chance.

Yeah they’re all as bad as each for playing politics. If Starmer is weaponising Sunak, then she’s weaponising Starmer. And so it goes on.

They’re all pro-LGBT+ until they’re not. ie when it actually means something.

I think the difference with Sunak is that Boris and Trump are cut from the same boorish “one of the lads” cloth whereas Rishi has at least occasionally, and definitely in the past, actually tried to act like a real politician. At the moment, Rishi comes across like the little dweeb that knocks around with lads like that at school and is trying to impress them to avoid a beating himself. It’s fucking pathetic.

I think the reason the reason this particular jibe has prompted such objection is because it veers into insensitivity and rudeness, towards someone they potentially relate to a bit more than they do trans people (ie: a cisgender mother). It’s depressing but if it gets Sunak to lay off for five minutes then i’ll take it.

Spot on.

The way he pauses in that clip to try and remember his rehearsed lines, stumbles, and launches into the usual Tory deflection of “if you look at what I said” in other words “No, fuck off, I’m not listening and I’m too busy trying to remember what I’m supposed to say next about Labour”

CUNT!

Mordaunt’s gone rogue. She was implying this morning that Sunak would apologise.

There’s just zero authority in the Conservative party right now, is there?

Badenoch undermining him, Mordaunt castigating him, numerous MPs actively briefing against him. A desire to delay the inevitable electoral wipeout is literally the only thing holding him up at this point.

Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves are the REAL Pop Cons. Liz Truss could never.

Why does she keep repeating NO AS A PERCENTAGE OF GDP as though she’s correcting him when he repeatedly explains to her that he had it right the first time

Well I know why, she’s been wheeled out with rehearsed lines with no understanding of the actual figures.

Fucking scary that these people are in charge of our money.

The poor flower is struggling with the fact that the fiscal rule for debt is insane.

Not only is tinsel-tits right about it only requiring that debt in the 5th forecast year is less than in the 4th year, it’s a rolling window. In 12 months’s time, you no longer care at all about what your forecasts were. You can ramp up additional debt in (what was) the 5th compared to the previous plan, and you still meet the ‘falling debt’ rule again as long as debt falls in what was previously the 6th year. Repeat ad nauseam.

(Plus, these forecasts include the effects of five year’s of future increases to fuel duty - whereas we all know it will be frozen like it has been every budget for the last ten years)

It’s a shame for the general election that this didn’t turn into anything:

We love to see it

That ridiculous spike on the graph when Liz Truss was PM always makes me laugh :D
