I always like Strictly when they get people like Felicity Kendal, Colin Salmon or Pamela Stephenson - people who’ve no need to do it at all but add a bit of star power to their year. Up and comers are fine and pad out the roster, but overall the show needs a generally high calibre roster.

It doesn't matter at all. Every year it's the same 'who?!' comments, and I mean less so here than on wider social media.

And I'd say it matters even less if the professionals are largely unchanged.

They would be decent final names though one of the papers was claiming the other day that footballer Daniel Sturridge had signed up, which seemed so left field it felt it almost to be true. Of these rumoured contestants I'd most like Nigel to be in.
