Eastenders 2023

I watched on iPlayer yesterday and it appeared to only be the Monday episode available.

It didn’t even make sense moving to BBC2. Tennis was on BBC2 already and then switched to BBC1 to make way for The One Show and Eastenders… why? Just leave it alone if you can.

Quality episode for one-liners tonight.

The Brides’ club - “save that to put in Keanu’s sippy cup”, and everything Elaine comes out with.

Rhys drunkenly rapping to 5ive :D

Every time Theo and Ravi (could be considered as a new WonderBra model if they ever got re-launched) are on screen

SLIGHTLY concerned about this chat of an October wedding for Sharon and Keanu, considering we know from the flash forward that she's getting married at Christmas. I hope it's more because of him being an idiot with money and the wedding having to be postponed than because of some notion of Sharon and Phil somehow being endgame.

I switched on last night to see LISA back. I knew she was coming back but didn't realise this soon.
Where is GLAMZIN TAMZIN and Mel's return?

I completely imagine the writers thinking of Kat and Keanu as temporary roadblocks.

But then thinking of the six we saw in the flash forward... would Stacey really be there as a wedding guest if Kat had just been screwed over?

Just remembered Mel Googling Search-Wise.net-ing "HOW TO TELL IF SOMEONE A PSYCHOPATH" about her dreadful son, as an end of episode cliffhanger.

I quite like Kat and Phil together, and I naively thought when she chose Phil over Alfie a few months ago, that was the writers deciding to invest in them as a couple. If anything though, they've completely put a halt to any progression (or even screen time) since then, which makes me think they were just stalling the inevitable end of the relationship to tie into whatever they have planned for Christmas.

Maybe Kat is the one to leave, and this forthcoming illness storyline for Alfie is the trigger.

Sigh... it would be such a huge step backwards for everyone involved so I hope I'm wrong.

I think Phil and Sharon work so much better so would be keen to see a recoupling. Kat and Phil just doesn’t ring true to me.

Yeah, Kat and Phil work brilliantly as a couple - I'd like to hope they'll keep that going for as long as they can.

It was such a pleasant surprise to see the chemistry that Steve McFadden and Jessie Wallace have, and if the writers felt like it, there would be so much more to explore in their relationship. Where else is there to go with Sharon and Phil, or Kat and Alfie for that matter?

I do think that Kat needs to be reintegrated with the rest of the Slaters a bit though - it doesn't sit right that she's so far removed from everything that's going on with them.

Just watched tonight's episode on iPlayer and there's a great little scene between Sonia and Reiss that doesn't quite break the fourth wall but certainly brushes lightly against it. It's fun.

Sonia giving a bit of a history recap for some of the younger viewers :D

Do we know where Louise is and why Lisa is looking after Peggy? Have only caught tonights episode this week.

That scene made me giggle :D

And Lisa demanding THOUSANDS per day is quite ridiculous

She mentioned to Sonia yesterday that Louise has been having trouble with drink and drugs.

I've always liked Lisa, i'm not sure why but I think it may just be because she was part of a great era of the show (late 90s/early 00s) and also that Who shot Phil? storyline was mega

It's been a slog with Reiss but I thought last night was the first time his comedy actually landed. The angle of him being a totally normal, unassuming person who has been accidentally teleported into the insane EastEnders universe is quite fun.

I can't get over how good Sharon is looking - she upped it again tonight :disco:

I also can't get over that I am watching EE regularly again :o

I was thinking that too! Sometimes when people lose weight they look a bit haggard, but she looks great.

I was surprised when Alfie and Lisa had that scene together tonight… do they actually know one another? I can’t remember them being in it at the same time before.
