The Celebration Tour 2023 (Greatest Hits)

She kind of had to do that song though didn't she. It's had huge global longevity based on her YouTube and streaming numbers.

I like a stage where everyone gets a piece of the action. I'm pretty sure that extended rampway didn't feature in the seatmap for the 02. If that gets used by her and the dancers then even the people at the back are going to have a good view at times.

It's so easy to nitpick these things into your own personal space which doesn't work for a world tour, but Act 3 is almost entirely a waste of time for me. I have no time for DAD although I can see its appeal, I love DTM but she's done it at virtually every tour since 2000 and I don't need a disco cover or another Evita track. Mother and Father and Little Star are clearly personal inclusions which casual fans will have little time for. In any other type of concert I'd say fine but for a GH tour, nope

If even half of that had all been replaced with anything of Express Yourself, Lucky Star, Borderline, Dress You Up, Papa Don't Preach, Deeper & Deeper, Beautiful Stranger, Frozen, it would be near perfect for me.

But that section feels like a drag for me.

Aside from that she does really cover a lot of ground which is great.

And even though I prefer Lucky Star and Borderline, I think core fans are going to love the swerve of doing Everybody and Burning Up instead.

Just heading back from this, really enjoyed it :disco: a few troll moments but overall way more hits than I was fearing. An unfortunate sound issue (which she started off trying to fill then made Bob come and do it :D ) robbed us off the encore (I think? It certainly ended very abruptly)

I'm floored by what I've seen. So, so happy for her.

The finale? I'm also pleased as I can get a head start getting out the place - and I think she'd approve.

Ok looks like I'm staying until the very end.

OK I've seen lots of clips now - thoughts:

Vogue appears to be the highlight. The remix version and the integration of the ballroom scenes and the Beyonce samples and overall look is just brilliant. Considering she's done it at every (nearly every?) tour she still managed to turn it out.

Open Your Heart another highlight. Original 80s production, it sounds gorgeous. Vocally great even though probably mimed

It sounds like the latin section was totally live and she sounded fine

Live To Tell sounds epic. Probably a pre-record but the 'live' vocal is stunning and the set up very moving and epic.

She's a fucking troll for doing inferior remixes of Into The Groove, Ray Of Light and Justify My Love. I just don't think that's going to go down well.

And a worse troll for giving us 10 seconds of Papa Don't Preach (twice). That seemed to get the biggest reaction and then it just STOPPED. Ergh.

Nothing Really Matters is such a great opener and into Everybody works. Meh for Burning Up. The guitar moments never really work.

Biggest thing I noticed is that it didn't seem like a Madonna concert from the crowd perspective - normally the whole place is bouncing for her gigs. Everyone on their fucking phone as per usual standing and watching. I'm a hypocrite because I've been watching all the videos these people are posting but honestly it doesn't need half the audience filming crappy quality videos when a dozen people can do it properly and everyone else can contribute to an amazing atmosphere. Gigs need to CHANGE. *old*

I would have enjoyed myself overall I think and I'm looking forward to seeing the film with all the intricacies because the staging and dancing looks 10/10 as usual. But I'm glad I didn't pay £400 to see it.

THAT ALL BEING SAID I can't find a clip of Rain yet and that might CHANGE EVERYTHING.

Oops I've seen it. I love it. Although

The entire song uses visuals from Frozen, like visually the entire song is a remix of the Frozen video while she's singing Rain. I wonder if Frozen got cut from this section for timing reasons, or was a last minute swap out in rehearsals? Or maybe she's going to alternate them on tour. Anyway weird when you consider the Rain video has striking visuals too that could have been used.

Not on Tuesday but I do on Wednesday and in December!
Let's meet up for a drinkie on Tuesday x
You did good to get that many tickets, it too is hours just to get Tuesday's 😂

And yes sounds good! There's several places in the O2 x

Dr Lecter has been posting clips from last night, I'm definitely more excited now after seeing his videos :disco:

Any other moopers going Tuesday?

This looks good and she looks great! Much better than I assumed given the health scare in the summer.

Of course she eliminated Frozen, teased Papa Don't Preach, but kept Bitch I'm Madonna :D

I think I'd be worried if she didn't troll in some way

My casual friend said she loved it and she cried a couple of times, so there’s my reassuring book of stats.

The miming doesn't bother me. And I’m really irritated by the ignorant spoiled people moaning that she didn’t dance enough. She’s 65. From my limited view she looked incredible.

I'm getting FOMO now :(
I'm not getting FOMO in as much as I have very little desire to see big arena gigs any more, but I think the set list on the whole looks splendid, and everything I've seen on twitter has made me think that she's doing it absolutely right, and anybody who does go is probably in for a massive treat.

My brother and his wife had a lovely time, thought Madonna was incredible but got very angry with people around them shouting and screaming while Madonna was talking about some apparently quite serious stuff.

Just out of night 2 and the encore was cut in its entirety. Fabulous show but finished on a slow song, “Thank you London” and the house lights up! It started bang on 9, which was when it was seemingly scheduled. Baffling. And leaving a slightly bitter taste.

Does the O2 have an earlier curfew on a Sunday night? Not to take away from your disappointment. This must have been disappointing for you, but perhaps it was a license issue. I am seeing her later in the month and cutting from the setlist shenanigans is my biggest concern!

I think it does, and the last tube that goes via central London is 11:45pm on a Sunday so if it wasn't cut when it was, I was planning to leave about 5 minutes later anyway. 45 minutes is cutting it fine to clear the crowds and it's not a convenient place to be stranded for me at least.

I still had a good time anyway, she got cut off when I went to see her a few years ago so it wasn't exactly a surprise, and I'm not that bothered by the songs that were missed. It's a great show and I was really happy with how big the stage was and how it was used given how far up we were.

This looks fabulous and I very much wish I got tickets. I have never went to see her live and am not quite sure why as I have always been a casual fan whilst not a rabid one.

I still don't understand why we are in a world where the start time never actually means the start time. Everyone does it- not just Madge. You would/ should have contingency for shit going wrong then.
