RuPaul's Drag Race (2 Viewers)

Rewatching Season 2 just cements how much better Tyra was than Raven throughout, but it also cements that Tyra was actually more likeable.

Between attacking Mystique for her weight behind her back, leading her clique of mean girls, being completely condescending and bitter towards Tatianna from beginning to end, her tantrum when she doesn't win...

I feel like a lot of this gets lost in the Raven doesn't win! Tyra is the worst ever! narrative fans have created. Watching Tati call her out on it all in the reunion is brilliant, more so because Raven has no rebuttal.

And was she that good? Her makeup obviously was on but her first few challenges were terrible, and in the end it felt like they were piling wins onto her to make up for the poor start. Juju clearly should have won the book challenge. Raven's beat moment was makeovers but otherwise she was hardly spectacular. Whereas Tyra mucked up a couple of the challenges that she had immunity during, but had so much more wow moments.
 
I thought Tyra was hilarious during her run and her crowning is one of my favourite moments in the show ever, particularly with the voiceover as she’s prancing around in the crown. Her behaviour since is unfortunate.
 
I came to the same conclusion after re-watching S2. I hate Tyra but again I found Raven to be even less likable.
 
Raven wasn't likeable in her season, and stumbled MANY times. And absolutely, it is testament to the racism of the fandom that Tyra's victory is undermined. But at the same time, I also think its because Raven is a LEGEND and has been massively influential on the drag scene. And what I like most about her now is that she's completely unapologetic and even a bit ABOVE it all.

I stopped watching, except for some diva moments by Gia, it's all a bit CHEAP and SLOW. It took them a few episodes to eliminate the first queen, for god's sake.

I have to say I do wonder why she never gets her pins out. What is going on there? It makes her fashion terribly formulaic

Did we know that Gia and Laganja live together now? I saw an Instagram post of them together a while ago, it's sweet that they made such a lasting friendship from the show :grin:
 
At what hour does this turn up on Netflix in the UK? I’ve been awake for hours and am going to end up having to watch Peppa Pig at this rate

My friend is working for the show on Season 11 and he says there's gonna be a Black Panther Mini-Challenge that the show is going to get lots of backlash from because the White and Asian contestants are gonna dress up like they're from Wakanda.
