Race Across The World - New BBC Reality Gameshow

Took me a while to finish thus series. Slightly disappointed the obvious winners won. They got very lucky (or manipulated lucky) with their budget though.

In the end I think I warmed to the brother and sister the most. Even if they were as dopey as fuck for nearly crashing out twice.

Anyone fancy applying for the next series?

Sure, but you need to know I'm sometimes a snorer.

North Eastern China to the Southern tip of India according to some guy on Reddit, which is a clearly unimpeachable source.

The teams include: sisters, Elizabeth and Letitia; former married couple, Yin and Gaz, brothers, Brian and Melvyn; teenage couple, Fin and Sioned and mother and son, Caroline and Tom.

Ooh that's fun. Didn't they have trouble getting filming rights in China in the past? Should make for good watching.

WHY ONLY ONE N, FIN???

I'm intrigued by the prospect of the 'former married couple'. And excited that they've been able to film in China!

Enjoyed that! And actually like a lot of the couples which is unusual so early on.

But I found it so stressful and overwhelming and that was just seeing a very cut down version of what they went through in 4 or 5 days. I’m not surprised Tom had a moment when it feels like you’re not getting anywhere 2 days in a row.

Better days when you just got plonked in Canada and just got taxis everywhere

I loved it. Just beautiful to look at and I found something to enjoy in all the couples and dynamics. I didn't find son annoying at all - I totally empathised with their plight. I think the top two couples at the end of the first stage are probably my favourite two though.

I did eye roll a bit at POOR POSH MUM and her hardship of being a housewife. Like love, most of us have to do all that AND work full time.

My first response to housewife mum and gap yah son was utter horror at their poshness but they seemed quite nice in the end.

OH yeah, they seem to have a sweet relationship, and all existence is suffering and all that, but I bet her life as a posho mother wasn't really THAT gruelling. Bet they had HELP.

I can usually find some parallels with mother/son relationships. And from multiple trips abroad with my mum (although only Europe) since my dad died, I related to the need to be the capable one, to be in charge I guess, and know exactly what we were doing and what was going on - and then the feeling of having let her down and being 'less than' if I couldn't at all times.

I should add that my mother is no posho though. Think of an older Deirdre Barlow with Josie Gibson's accent and you're about three quarters there.

3.2m in the overnights - its highest series opener yet.
It opened with 'just over 3m' last year (so I assume less than 3.1m), and then added a further 2.3m over the week, to finish behind The Apprentice and Beyond Paradise at #3 for the week.

How lovely to have this back. In the first five minutes I wasn't feeling most of the couples but they all won me over to some degree by the end. I think I liked the young Welsh couple best.

That felt like this show's strongest ep1 so far. Incredible scenery and the casting feels bang on, I'm invested in all of them already.

Was especially a fan of one of the old brothers being stinking rich and the other one having a (mostly fun) chip on his shoulder about it. More of that please.

I expected to hate the young couple, but they might actually be my favourites so far.

I enjoyed her reference to 'looking after the animals'. I think we might be talking paddocks and stables here :disco:

Waiting for gazyin to get it (back) on
They have a great story. I love when it cuts to them talking about it pre-race.

More stunning locations in ep 2. The Chinese tourist board will be pissed off the arrival to LUXE ISLAND RESORT coincided with a typhoon though.

Bit gutted that next week a couple will go. Really like all of them. But if it came to it I’d probably miss the brothers the least.

Yes, I don't really want any of them to leave just yet.

It feels like with this and The Traitors, Studio Lambert really have perfected two formulas. It's almost enough to make you forget that shit Greg James presented last year.
