Let's talk about LA TOYA JACKSON (1 Viewer)

VoR you couldn't be ANYMORE INACCURATE there...

For me the first half of Startin' Over is amazing, the second half lags a bit at some points, but it could be easily narrowed down to like a genuinely great 13 track album or something.

Sexbox is just a COLD MESS

You need to hear certified hot mess Sexual Healing from the Bad Girl album (WHICH YOU WILL HEAR SOON VOR). It's amazing.

won't you come inside, inside my walls? :disco: :D:D

I think a bit of Rebbie appreciation is in order too. "Centipede" is ESSENTIAL (as Ellie knows).

Centipede is certainly GOOD, but WHAT ELSE HAS SHE DONE?

I quite like Reaction, her cover of I Feel For You (closer to the Prince original than Chaka Khan), Plaything, R U Tuff Enuff and Fly Away (of COURSE).

OK GUYS, the inevitable and surprisingly difficult question:

Kylie - On a Night Like This
vs.
La Toya - On a Night Like This

?
Kylie just edges it for me.

Watching her old interviews is weird because you don't know how much of it is true and how much of it is made up by Gordon.

The Australian interview is a classic, sadly I couldn't find it on YouTube.
She's taking instructions from an earpiece the entire time, & when one of our most respected journalists calls her on it, she goes properly mental & accuses him of being a mental (you need help sir) & a kiddy fiddler.

La Toya on Loose Women:

She says the album is almost complete and she just needs to finish a couple more songs :D ...and she has a new book coming out.

I don't not believe you would, Ellie.

one song I love of hers that never seems to get much attention is "He's A Pretender"

On my research I discovered QUEEN TOY wasn't channelling Madge, but it's a cover of the fabulous 70s Motown group High Inergy who did the classic "You Can't Turn Me Off (In The Middle Of Turning Me On)" which is on my old Motown 70s boxset.

Their version is also on youtube, natch.

After being a certified Jackson loon for most of my life (I own two copies EACH of Rebbie's first two albums) I'm just NOW getting around to discovering the wonders of La Toya's early discography. I always thought her music was so obviously terrible that I didn't even need to bother but I'll be damned if her first couple of LPs aren't quite okay. Her voice is so, so thin though :D If you thought Janet whispered her way through her songs, La Toya is basically just a faint wheeze

I have to say though that I've been a fan of Just Wanna Dance for many years. They don't know if I'm a he or a she :disco:

Did anyone watch her reality show? Aside from poor old Katherine (who must be just waiting for DEATH at this point) being dragged around in a caravan and eating a ridiculous amount of candy, it was disappointingly boring. She needs to make a third appearance on Celebrity Apprentice, it really is where she shines.

I also love that La Toya says she's a Grammy winner - and the thing is SHE IS - as part of USA For Africa! She won Record Of The Year. Take that Janet

she is so lovely. they really should've made her a permanent judge on rupaul's drag race. i'd have her instead of anyone other than rupaul actually.

I'm up to You're Gonna Get Rocked! on my La Toya odyssey and it's so much better than I expected

ALL RIGHT
For those of you who didn't believe
Roll up ya sleeves
And if you're HANGIN'
COOL!
And if you're NOT
LEAVE!
Coz La Toya is THROWIN' DOWN
With her NEW SOUND

So gimme some RESPECT

:disco: :disco: :disco:

Maybe this has been posted already; La Toya's bio on Spotify is an absolute RIDE. I always thought they were at least proofread by the artist itself, especially if written by somebody else or pulled directly from their Wiki page, but this guy just let himself GO :D did she piss in your MUESLI Ron?

Spying Latoya Jackson GIF

These days I appreciate her mostly for this becoming a great meme.

I was genuinely shocked by the production value on that album. It sounds gorgeous.

Well, then La Toya starts singing…

Sometimes when I'm walking down the street, I'm randomly reminded by something that this song exists and I just have to listen to it

WATASHI WA WATASHI WA :disco:
