Big Brother: Week 1

Or a weekly one after the launch night thread?

Yes. I think we used to just lump it all in one thread but a weekly thread sounds like a good idea. I don’t think we quite have the audience these days to have a daily thread.

I was a bit worried an episode of them sitting on beds would be dull but it was solid! Maybe slightly "filler episode" but there were some lovely moments. Olivia is VILE and Yinrun is just adorable.

Enjoying it being back. It does feel a little like later seasons of drag Race where the queens are hyper aware of the potential for cancellation and the rabid fandom and act accordingly… I don’t know if that is the editing being aware of needing to protect contestants more or just the contestants being aware. If it’s the latter I think the mask will slip in time.

I think for that reason, as annoying as she is, I don’t hate Olivia for being a bit outspoken and bolshy

Like the editing has been very trans inclusive, the pronouns chat, the bed chat with Farida and Halle… then the boys having their ‘men need to talk’ chat, just feels a bit social issue big brother rather than antagonistic big brother of yore

Also noticed in the sponsored bits in the ads their is even a “Ashley has treated themself to new boots” from Marcus Bentley :disco: Love that

Not enjoying the narrative of Farida being this ignorant woman for asking questions to Hallie personally. I think she's being seen as ignorant, when actually she's very muc h the opposite because she wants to learn and understand people she's never met before. And I'm nervous that she will be nominated by Olivia and Hallie, both of whom she's said she really likes. :(

Zak coming across SURPRISINGLY WELL in this episode?!

He pissed me off a lot! I hated when he kept them waiting for their meeting and when he basically put himself in charge of making decisions. I also find lack of geographical knowledge as a selling point so 2002.

Absolutely obsessed with Yinrun. Her chat with Trish about feeling ignored though :(

Jordan and Henry definitely benefit from being separated. Unfortunately Farida does seem to be very hard work.

I am loving this nonsense task, and the impact on the group dynamics. I've missed it... where else can you see this kind of ridiculousness?
