Angie Stone DEAD

Oh this is horrible. She was one of my favourites. Black Diamond and Mahogany Soul still get regular plays at casa WTG. :(

I haven't played it for ages but I loved her first album at the time. Gorgeous version of Heaven Help.

And Wish I Didn't Miss You is obviously a stone cold classic in both original and Hex Hector versions.
 
Absolutely devastating. When I saw on a friend’s insta that she was dead I assumed it was a natural causes situation- car crash is always so much worse for me. Horrible.
 
Didn’t realize she was 63 (or that she was active as far back as the 70s) but still a shock. :(

Too many celebrities dying in unpleasant circumstances lately. It’s like that weird run in 2016 when Alan Rickman, David Bowie and Wogan all went within a single week in January.
 
I remember back in the day when I subscribed to Music Week, her Mahogany Soul album spent months and months lingering just below the top 75. It eventually went Gold, despite going no higher than #89, which is pretty incredible.

This song was never a hit, but it always seemed to be on heavy rotation on MTV Base back in 2000.

About ten people in the van when it went over and she is the sole fatality which is God playing some mean tricks on us. 😢
 
They were a couple but I don’t think they had a kid together?
 
Well maybe it’s the girl, Diamond Stone, who sang on one of her albums?
