Yes, why would she wash it? Surely the boa smells better.

Lorén needs to take ownership of the boa to justify championing it in one of her pieces of art. It's either washing it three times or infusing it with five types of musky incense.

Eva and Ewa again, really?

Laurell Barker is a prolific Eurovision/national selection songwriter whose credits include El Diablo, Bigger Than Us and She Got Me.

It seems like a really uninteresting and recycled list so far, even by Melodifestivalen standards. Laurell Barker is Canadian but lives in Malmö so isn't as random as I assumed. How many unknowns are left at this point?

  1. Nordman
  2. Wiktoria
  3. Loulou LaMotte
  4. Marcus & Martinus
  5. Theoz
  6. Emil Henrohn
  7. Panetoz
  8. Smash into pieces
  9. Melanie Wehbe
  10. Paul Rey
  11. Elov & Beny
  12. Tennessee Tears
  13. Maria Sur
  14. Ida-Lova
  15. Victor Crone
  16. Loreen
  17. Eva & Ewa
  18. Laurell Barker
  19. Axel Schylström
Still 9 names left who could turn it around. I tend to agree, so far only Loreen and Wiktoria are particularly promising from the returnees.

That said, while Laurell has had a hand in some right bland shite, if her entry is anything like 'Habit' I could get on board.

OUR LOVELY EVIL TWINS must be fuming Laurell got the call to perform her own entry in MelFest whilst they are withering away in Moldova and Poland, struggling to make ends means on those 300 euros payments drying up. :(

They sent half of the total entries this year, why can't they pick any of them? :(

I've wondered for ages whether there'd be a year when they just didn't include any of the Schlager names at all. Closest was the disastrous 2013 when all we got was the Housewives and Sylvia Vrethammar's bossa nova song.

Praying that at least one of them is in the final six, but they're usually announced early...

I guess Ewa & Eva?

But really it can’t be Shirley, Linda, Sonja as they were last few years.

Sanna I thought was a surprise possibility, and I’ve got my eye on Carola. I wonder whether Perrelli wants to squander the goodwill she built back up. I was telling HerSerene yesterday the story of Anna Book’s career, and how the Ace Wilder - Don’t Worry staging was originally intended for her

Ewa and Eva are more old-school schlager than the noughties revival that Shirley & Co kicked off.

I think it’s clearly being set up for a Loreen revansch so far.

Yeah normally there's a bit of representation from both generations, but I guess the more time moves along the fewer the spaces for those kinds of acts we get...

If we get any of them, I think Carola would make sense as a big name to hold back, although the initial rumours about her seem to have gone rather quiet.

Otherwise, JessAn could perhaps be ready to right the wrong that was 2020, though it would be quite a short break.

Anna Book or Pernilla Wahlgren I've been predicting all year given they've both been away a long time and are clearly desperate enough. But Pernilla just landed a plum job hosting Allsang, so it's possible she's too booked and blessed to push for Melfest as well.

Nanne has also been trying to get back in with her old gang One More Time - have I mentioned before that their song Highland is very good? - but got rejected the past couple of years I believe. I'd love that if the material was good enough. Carpool Karaoke would be a very sad note for her to go out on.

Oh and not that she's a Schlager diva per se, but Dinah Nah definitely submitted something, and just released her first single in a couple of years in an attempt to work up a bit of buzz.

Aftonbladet had a report a while back that one of the "big names" they were negotiating with pulled out last minute. I think the rumours were it was Carola or Darin. Hopefully the latter was the one who withdrew and Caro is still in. :(

Have we only got one rock act this year so far? I suspect they'll be another to fill the quota.

Though one may be a rock schlager :disco:

I thought she gave up music was now working as a beautician. :o

I don't think she ever claimed she was quitting music. It's not at all uncommon for the lower tier Melfest names to support themselves with day jobs.

For example, Kayo from Afro-Dite is a dermatologist, Robin Bengtsson runs a barber's salon and Anne-Lie Rydé is a prostitute.
Yeah

like Frida Green works at a supermarket, Caroline Wennergren is a theatre manager & puppeteer and Sigrid Bernsson is a world class cruise singer.

And suddenly, "Så nära" makes a whole lot more sense.

You just DON’T GET insane career destroying moments like this at Melfest anymore :(

"I was disappointed last year but I asked G:son one day later "Shall we try again?" - I had such a bad cold when I sung the demo for this but I felt the song suits me perfectly" RYDÉ, Anne-Lie (2005).
