Suomi ranks the Buffy Seasons

The stories about the entire rest of the cast hating her certainly don't reflect well on her, but I think she is a wonderful actress in her own right. That she didn't win any major awards for The Body is outrageous.

I also love her breakdown in series 3 after Angel breaks up with her.

David Boreanaz though - *THAT* is a limited actor. It's really distracting how wooden he often is compared to the rest of the cast.

I was listening to a podcast about Buffy the other day and apparently the reason that Juliet Landu kills Kendra like that without a fight was because the actress was injured and couldn't do a proper fight scene :david:

All the better for it - ICONIC DRU MOMENT!

It'll be interesting to see though regarding SMG - she's starring in what seems like a pretty heavily pushed new CBS comedy called "The Crazy Ones" alongside Robin Williams premiering this month:

David Boreanaz (with his limited acting abilities) has fared better than SMG, with a series that's into its eighth season. She did the Scooby Doo movies, that awful CW show where she played two twins who you couldn't tell apart because she played them exactly the same and now a show with Robin Williams where she's playing the uptight bore.

It's a controversial opinion, but i think "The Body" is dreadful.

But then i also quite like Season 4. So what do i know.

MONSTERS, all of you.

The moment where Giles is trying to revive her and Buffy says "The doctor said we shouldn't try to move the body" and then her face when she realises and she totally falls apart. :( :( :(

The only thing wrong with it is the vampires in the hospital. No need. Also I know it has its fans but Anya's speech is a little contrived for me too, but those are MINOR issues with an amazing and incredibly brave piece of television.

I love The Body but it's totally a matter whether it's something you'd WANT from that show.

The full series is on sale today on amazon.com for $60.

I think I've underrated this season.

I still get wound up every time I watch this. Not for the lack of fighting but because Dru doesn't drink from Kendra. I'm sure it was already well established in the B-verse that the blood of a slayer is the ultimate prize for a vampire.

I like it in the same way that Angelus snaps Jenny's neck. Just killing for the fun of it and portraying how messed up they are. Plus Dru's never been the hunt-happiest of all of them.

I'm currently on "Innocence".

It's painful but for other reasons :(

Now on Beer Bad.

Oh it's so, so, so, so painful. :(

For me, that and the one where she spends all episode shagging Riley in a SPACE VOID (or whatever) are the only two genuinely bad season 4 episodes - all the others have at least SOMETHING to enjoy.

I had entirely forgotten how much of a HOOT "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" was! :D

All the Cordelia-heavy episodes in series 2 and 3 are great.

It's all about Angel dragging Xander out of Buffy's room, planning to sink his teeth into him only for DRU to come round the corner, whack the crap out of him and romance Xander. :D

"How do yew feel about eternol LOIFE?" :disco:

Just watched Wild At Heart (the one where Oz meets the female werewolf and he and Willow break up).

OMG Alyson Hannigan can act her fucking socks off. I'm a wreck. Somebody needs to get her out of sitcom hell and put her in something worthy of her abilities again, I swear she could sweep the boards.

Giles' art skillz in The Hush are beyond amazing

(Sorry, this is just going to be my running commentary thread from now on...)

I forgot how subtly they introduced Tara.

The other Buffy person at work deliberately mispronounced a customer's name as "Halfrek" today, just for my benefit :eyes:

Speaking of Hush, the whole lecture theatre scene is one of the best things they EVER did on the show.

*mimes wanking/stake gesture*

I remember the first time I watched it, Anya's sex gesture after Xander 'rescues' her made me laugh so much I could hardly breathe.

Poor Giles' random :black: girfriend who was NEVER SEEN OR REFERRED TO AGAIN.

It's funny how they picked up on that in season 7 again. :D

Anyways, Hush is a fantastic piece of television. Picks up a gimmick without ever making it look *gimmicky* and results in so much character development. Unfortunately it's always a bit marred by the shoddy episode following it up. The dialogue is mostly good but the plot is just so so clunky.

Look who's joined Twitter...

Seems like not *everyone* in the cast hated her...

Although she hasn't actually bothered to reply to Eliza :D

In fact she's following David Boreanaz, Michelle Trachtenberg and Seth Green, but none of the rest of the cast. :eyes:

FABULOUS (not official unfortch)

I know it's not 'cool' to say this but I'm on season 4 again now and I'm fairly settled on it being my favourite. I like the uni setting, I like Riley and the Initiative, I love the tone they're going for, Oz is still there and Anya comes back which means it features a peak Scooby roster before Tara, Dawn and the rubbish ones from series 7 come along to dilute the brand.

I do feel like the Initiative was a great concept that was just far too rushed to have any lasting impact on the series. It could have done with being spread over two seasons to give it time enough to bed into the universe and carry more emotional weight. Wrapping the whole story up in the space of a season was just far too neat, didn't have any long term repercussions and left Riley entirely redundant by season 5 (and he's NOT THAT BAD).

I'll get on to my conflict regarding Joyce's death when I rewatch season 5.

Actually I wanted to watch Angel but I couldn't get past the first season. The main character is such a bore. I know it does get better in season 2 though, maybe I should just give up and skip to that.

Kick things off with the season 1 finale (but watch episode 10 and maybe bits from 16 onwards?) and you're in for a ride. It is a bit a of a slog at the beginning.

I’ve been rewatching a bit recently and I was SO WRONG to criticise Amber Benson’s acting earlier in this thread. This scene in particular is just wonderful.
