The Gilded Age (New Julian Fellows HBO Drama)

I also enjoyed this quote from the vulture review of the episode (5 stars btw :D!)

"GET RID of Mrs Russell!"

The feathers flying were just TOO MUCH :D

Mr Riggs and the niece are quite unbearable. I almost want them to skip all their nonsense and get to the part where they put her with the gormless Russell boy who has architecture in his soul.

Can Marion get consumption or get run over by a carriage between seasons? Truly dreadful.

I’m convinced Christine was green screened in. She didn’t have one exchange with anyone other than the three actresses this whole season. It’s bizarre.

I guess not much else happened, I need more gays and more confrontations. Even Downton had more drama.

I do love the high stakes they set up by FIRING and replacing the chef the night before the ball, that ultimately, like every storyline, fizzled out to NOTHING.

Not the THRILLING CONCLUSION to the series long Marian/Raikes romance storyline being that on the day of the wedding he simply CHANGES HIS MIND :D!

And her reaction….I don’t hate you cause I’m a dullard who can’t even enact any form of vengeance.

Also my storyline (should it ever deign to have one) theory is that Rakes wishes to marry Marian as her father DID have assets which he hid as the executor of his estate. Why else would he be interested in the LITTLE DULLARD?!?

Omg at how naive I was expecting something exciting to happen in the finale.

I don’t know why they thought we’d be remotely interested in finding out who the cook really was. For a second I thought they brought in Gerard Depardieu but I guess the main point they wanted to make was how embarrassing it would be to have a chef from Kansas.

The biggest twist of the finale is that they danced until the morning.

But I did love most of it

What a load of OLD TOOT that was. A season finale based on who will come to the ball but quite frankly I loved it all :disco: It’s just all quite pleasant and nice to watch.

I hope now we have them actually talking to each other the rivalries will step up somewhat rather than just who’s snubbing who.

Was it Mr. Astor who was murdered by Mr. Russell?

“I’m tired of being CUT on my own doorstep. Make them come!” :disco:

I've already forgotten most of what happened in the finale (did anything happen?) :hostage:

The CHEF REVEAL storyline was just ludicrous :D The scene where he changed accent :D
I must have tapped out for Marian's storyline for most of the season as I BARELY UNDERSTOOD who her man was, they'd had so few scenes together of their great romance. BIN HER!

That HIDEOUS, HIDEOUS dress Carrie Coon wore walking down the stairs at the ball :hostage:

Imagine if the show hadn’t been renewed for another season, we would have never known.

Loved this. I was smiling stupidly to myself all the way through the scenes of Mrs Russell's BIG BALL!

And I never imagined daughter's little performance would be something as amazingly ridiculous as that HORSEY DANCE :D

I hope Christine is allowed to film outside her house this time around.

How was your luncheon today @Lucille ?

I re-read some of this thread and the confusion still makes me laugh. And we thought GoT/Dragon characters were confusing.

I’ve been holed up in bed with a toothache delirious on lack of sleep and hopped up on painkillers and re-watched this all yesterday. When are we getting season 2?!?

That’s cheating! You’ll be able to remember all the characters and names while the rest of us will spend half of the new season trying to…
