The Traitors (UK) S02E06

Also; can we really imagine master of intrigue MILES handing over the drink nonchalantly enough for Diane to accept willingly? He was probably TICCING as he was doing it

:Diane:

At least if he DOES take Diane out we KNOW that he is not long for this World anyway. The other 2 PIGS are going to take him out VERY SOON.

Right, Diane is definitely possibly safe come Wednesday probably. They've got the chance to leave things on a massive cliffhanger, why would they spoil the outcome with a clip of Diane taking the glass that they didn't even need to include? This whole thing was a ruse to thin out the gay community with hysteria-induced strokes before boring old Evie is revealed as the victim.

Reviews coming in for the Courtyard by Marriott Inverness Airport

No room phone, no clock, lumpy mattress cover with too short sheet. You must fully close the toilet seat and cover in order in order to flush it with a very awkward button. I could easily list another ten things but why bother. Asked the front desk for Kleenex (our room had none)...they never brought it. Cheapest, awful room coffee was the final bummer. Never again.

I hope Paul got that room

This should totally be on the main show after they leave. I always did wonder when they found out who the traitors were but assumed it was after filming of the show ended.

Pretty sure last year they just found out when it was aired on tv - this year they’ve realised there’s something to be got from filming the reactions

Hun they all talked to each other the moment they got out.

I thought I read somewhere that they found out when broadcast because they had to keep it secret from one another and they only started meeting up etc once the show was broadcast.

Obviously I don't want her to go, simply for being one of the only interesting ones left, terrible or not, and I hope she escapes by her own means/because the ending was a bluff/or the traitors fucked up, but I can well imagine this is the sort of show production will intervene when needed and it wouldn't surprise me if they actively told Diane about the chalice beforehand so they could keep her and let the Ross reveal play out. Not sure how I feel about that if that sort of thing does happen, I'm torn between finding it unfair manipulation, to thinking frankly why not when we're left with so many insufferables/useless players

I really can't get excited about the Ross twist either, simply because inevitably if it does come out we'll get the usual, "well if you lied about that, what ELSE are you hiding?" predictable rubbish, and then they get booted out for being suspected traitors which makes the whole twist more or less pointless. I'm not sure what the value of it is at all really, added drama is fine but the show is interesting enough without that unless it's going to be useful. And then it potentially leads to production intervention in order to ensure the twist is revealed. I mean, I'm very much here for Diane and Ross using it to their advantage but it doesn't feel like they are so far?

I did LOVE the tease that Diane was beginning to suspect her own son of being a traitor.

BUT ROSS IS is the only real GAG of the season so far so it’s worth it for that alone!

This is how I think it’s going to play out.

Diane responds to getting the goblet jokingly “You seem very keen for me to drink this Miles is it poisoned or something?”

MILES FALLS APART

Diane then TWIGS what’s happening and decides not to drink from the goblet and gets Miles banished the next night.

As for everyone being supposedly thick as pig shit - I mean, if you watched season one and saw Hannah, Aaron and fucking Meryl walk away with the money, how exactly are you going to play it? :D

There appears to be no benefit whatsoever to loudly singling people out, it seems to be that being just likeable enough and acting a bit dumb and then praying you get to the end and figure out the last step is as good a tactic as any. I'm not saying they're NOT shit players, but really that might just be their best/only gameplan to survive, especially based on last season.

I've never watched any other versions, do they play out differently? I'd rather there was some rule (somehow) that meant you couldn't just coast and had to play more aggressively to a point. If we end up with season one repeated over again I can definitely see it having a shorter shelf life

This would be a delight of course and seems likely, but I'd hope it was due to Diane's own savviness/Miles being useless than any outside intervention

I was rooting so hard for Miles but HOW he ended up so easily lumbered with the task especially after Harry's "yeah you should do it" prompting was frankly SUICIDAL. They should've somehow coerced Paul into it with all the promise of evil smirking a poisoned chalice brings

@Raining on Me you seem quite down on this season based on a lot of stuff that hasn’t actually played out yet and may not do so at all.

Yes it’d be disappointing if the producers tinkered to keep Diane, if the mother/son reveal was a damp squib, if a handful of players accidentally stumbled their way into the final and if the endgame played out exactly the same way as last year but we really have no reason to believe that ANY of that will be the case.

I didn't mean to sound so negative, I think I'm just voicing concerns/made up crystal ball gazing, because I haven't commented on any of the episode threads so far, so that's my thoughts on six episodes worth.

I'm still as hooked as ever and loving it, but I do think the very nature of this show means you tend to come down hard on it and how it's played/potentially edited, but only because it's so easy to get invested in. It's still must watch for me regardless of how it turns out - it just has obvious flaws is all

They are ultimately making a show to entertain the audience though. We only see sixty minutes of each day and that doesn’t begin to cover the constant individual interviews etc that are done each day.

A bit like Survivor, the editors will have the whole footage, boot order and winners all known to them before they even begin which will completely influence what we are and aren’t shown. In Survivor, the person leaving is often aware everyone is voting them and it’s a done deal but we are always shown two or three potentials backed with cuts of interview comments because otherwise it’s bloody boring for us to watch. So I’d imagine this is exactly the same?

I'm hoping Diane pretends to faint only to have a talking-head cut-to of her saying "aye waz fummin" or something only Diane would say.

Anyway, I do think the faithfuls should play more tactically with the shield - protecting Diane at all costs and voting for whomever she chooses one by one.

I'm also unsure why people are willingly volunteer that they got a shield when Claudia asks if there were any shields collected at the end of a mission (unless they're forced to by production). The whole point of the armourer and shields last year was that the traitors could possibly waste a murder if they went with a shielded person, but I guess a negative from a storytelling/production perspective is that it also meant that the pool of who could be murdered was just narrowed down to the non-armoury visiting team.

The only reason seems to be for a “we’re all in this together!” which seems a bit counterintuitive.

Yes I much preferred it last series when the shield was won in secret and they could easily get away with winning it and not telling anyone. This time round the precedent was set early on that they would reveal it to everyone (this becoming a target the next time like poor old Kyra)

I swear in the last episode Claudia told everyone! It should still be down to the contestants even if it's fairly obvious.

Yeah I noticed that too. In the first few episodes Claudia gave them a choice whether or not to reveal it and they always did. Now she's just started revealing it on their behalf.

I don't get the perception that it would somehow be dodgy if they didn't disclose that they had the shield, because keeping it a secret gives ALL the faithfuls an advantage, not just the individuals who have immunity.

Then again, we're dealing with a group of people with negligible IQ here.

I've just caught up with this series after watching the first one live (and loving it) last year. I have to say, I'm a bit underwhelmed by it. Jaz aside, the group are utterly useless and because of that I'm not particularly bothered by the traitors, irritating though they may be, getting away with murder and winning the lot. The contestants this year will have seen the first series but you would never know it.

Last year, like him or not, Wilf gave you reasons for backing him by virtue of how he played the game, particularly since it was the first series and there was no reference for him, or indeed anyone else. Conversely, in the faithful camp, we don't have a lovable but ditzy figure like Maddie to root for either.
