Anyone doing this?

Fairly cheap (£35) for a couple of hours' entertainment, though presumably it's just going to be you sat round a table and not missions etc.

Anyway, we've booked for something to do. Early bird link below in case anyone wants it:

I was initially tempted

What stopped me was the idea of getting people together, spending money on travel and tickets, only to be murdered early on and spending most of the time as a mere spectator.

I know "that's just the game", but I know I'd just feel like I'd squandered money and time.

Yeah, it's definitely not something I can justify a trip to London for, but if it tours, and I imagine it will if it is successful, I'll do it in Glasgow

I did think the same, but, to be honest, London is close enough for me to arrange a day out/dinner/ friends quite easily and it's an easy birthday present for Mr Sheena.

I also hope there will be SOME way you stay in the game or else, yes, it will be quite frustrating.

I'm not quite so sure this is as big an issue. If you get knocked out, you'll find out who the traitors are presumably, and get to watch your friends be spectacularly wrong, which will be entertaining in its own way

Unless Mr Sheena goes out second...

I think this entirely depends on how much of your "round" is made up by your own booking.

I could maybe accept sitting back and watching my friends flounder. But if you've booked as a couple or small group, then realistically you're going to be watching strangers, and that just doesn't hit for £35 and hours out of the day.

If I was being very cynical, I also wonder how often it might happen that a larger booking gangs up and simply tactically votes out any and all "outsiders" first.

Sheena's example of he and Mr both going out first might be a real possibility.

Can everyone therefore book October 18th at 2pm?

Thanks!

I kinda don't see the point - it's just going to be a game of Mafia which you can play with your friends for free (and with people you wanna play with). I'll wait and see if the reviews are amazing though, then might give it a go.

If there's more than one table playing during each show, I'm surprised they haven't landed on the obvious solution of having people voted off early on one table swapped to the other as new players that enter midway, so people don't feel ripped off shelling out £35 plus travel just to get kicked out first.

I very much doubt anyone gets eliminated too early on (if at all) - no way would it go down well if people get a short experience!

The thing's only two hours long, presumably the first eviction/kills have to be done within the first half hour to get through 14 players...

But the complaints they'll get if people pay £35 for an experience that lasts them 20 minutes are gonna be through the roof. I think they'll just play some kind of 'you got marked and now you can't vote' or something rather than actually murdered and taken out of the game.

The FAQs on the website do seem to imply that there is no such twist. Your experience just becomes to "still watch the rest of the drama unfold"

Penelope's idea makes a lot of sense, albeit you'd assume some people will opt out of being moved away from their group.

I think ultimately one of the inherent flaws vs the TV show, is that the TV show pits real strangers against each other, who (at least at the start) have no pre-established alliances. This experience is going to bank massively on the good faith of randoms playing "properly", rather than just trying to avoid upsetting their partners or maybe even deliberately playing stupidly for "the bantz" with their mates.

It sounds fucking awful. Having to MIX with THE PUBLIC? Not on your nelly.

I imagine there'll be plenty of couples absolutely delighted to try and stick the knife into their partners :D

If there’s no actual prize other than the fun of playing then, yeah, a group is likely to vote out the minority players at their table I’d say to max out their fun.

It's so cheap that it ain't going to be MUCH, but they'll have some branding, probably a couple of videos and stuff, so why not. I'm certainly not too worried about being voted off early for £35 and the excuse for a day in London, but I'm sure they'll do SOMETHING to keep people involved.

I imagine they'll have cloaks and stuff for it to have the full roleplay fantasy appeal, otherwise it really is just shelling out for a game of mafia you could play yourself.

I'd maybe be more inclined to go if I could opt to be neither traitor or faithful, but instead be Claudia. I like the idea of floating around in billowy shawls, legitimately being able to shout at strangers that they're dribbling morons, and locking people in coffins.
