The Kate Bush Singles Rate: The Countdown (1 Viewer)

It's quite an interesting song conceptually, just something about the execution doesn't quite work. It should be joyful but it doesn't feel it - I think reflecting that she wasn't feeling particularly joyful at the time!

She wanted to release it as the first single from The Red Shoes everywhere but was convinced to go with Rubberband Girl at the last minute (in Europe anyway). Some very rare pressings of Eat The Music exist from when they started pressing it and she changed her mind about it being the first single.
 
I’m actually a really bad Kate fan when it comes to the later albums. Which is mainly why I didn’t vote.

I can't remember what I rated it but I love ETM too. I wonder if it would've done any better than Rubberband Girl in the charts? I've never felt the latter was a particular high point of her career...

A late entry into the rate which wasn’t my fault at all obviously.. It certainly had a wide spectrum of votes, one 11, one -1 and a handful of zeroes. It’s also her latest release, and this was four years ago! We’re waiting Kate love x

I prefer the album version - I sometimes just like to listen to the first half, but if I accidentally let it play I can't hear that "Little LIGHT..." without then listening to The Ninth Wave in its entirety.

The new version does have a very special place in my heart as part of the live show of course... still waiting on that DVD Kate love :eyes:

That video really is one of the SHITTEST things she's ever done. That and the DREADFUL Candle in the Wind cover.
