Rivals

I'm enjoying Rivals as well. But I do have one issue with it - Alex Hassell just isn't hot enough to play that character, particularly when Aidan Turner is right there.
True, I do wonder if Aidan Turner just doesn't have a sufficiently jolly hockey sticks look to him to play that role. I do like that, whilst he is clearly meant to be attractive in a curmudgeonly way, he is still the hottest thing in the cast.

They’ve done Rivals so well I think I’d trust them take a crack at Riders.

My mum feels very strongly that he is not attractive enough and has told me more than once.

Both of the two shows mentioned most recently deserve their own threads.

Rivals is great but, again, add me to the chorus of just not hot enough. I suppose it’s supposed to be the 80s, slightly smokers teeth kinda hot, but it just doesn’t work.

Also, David Tennant is doing slimy very well…

THIS! He’s actually quite repulsive looking, like Rufus Sewell was disfigured in an accident. I’m not sure if that’s what they were going for.

Done.

Add me to the list who find Alex Hassell more odd-looking than sexy. A friend of mine observed that he looks like when Shrek gets turned into a human, so now that's all I can see.

Very enjoyable show, although I'm not sure it quite had the GRAVITAS to pull off a random very serious rape storyline midway through.

Also 'Taggie' really is the worst character ever, though I suppose she has to be in a plot device-y sort of way.

I really enjoyed this for the pulpy, soapy melodrama of it all.

Add me to the list of people who didn't understand why you'd cast Hassell as the STUD when Aiden Turner was on hand.

It probably boiled down to who would get their cock out for the tennis match.

This was a great romp, though for some reason I had convinced myself that it was all going to be a one-off series and all wrapped up. I'm sure it will come back but it felt like nothing was resolved.

The series is only half of the book, so they had better give us another season!

You know you're onto a winner when you've got Olivia Colman on board.
