There must be another way to block links from them? It's unbelievably irritating.

Also I think we’re past the era of people posting links to DM articles, and we can handle the RARE EVENTUALITY it does happen.

I'm agnostic on the links. We can maintain our policy of discouraging them, which could extend to mods manually removing them when they appear. As @Lucille mentioned, I think most posters know and wouldn't post direct links to their website anyway.

I'm much happier now that the blanket autocorrect is gone, thanks @ZenGiraffe
 
As long as we're remembering why we did it - to prevent giving them clicks and, therefore, income. As such, having the space between the two words doesn't defeat that aim.

Absolutely agreed.

The mention is unnecessary, but encouraging clicks goes against everything Moopy stands for.
 
I've voted no, but as above, I'd prefer just for the title without a space.
 
The Fail can fuck off and I’d rather this was a safe space where they are NOT tolerated in any fashion. I like the statement it makes.

I’ve linked to images of theirs before now by mistake and if an admin deleted said image I would absolutely support it!
 
Do we know if hotlinking pictures counts as a click for them? I would like the opportunity to do that, if it's just leeching off their bandwidth with no benefit to them

It imprints as engagement, yes.
 
Aren’t two behind a paywall anyway? Sorry it seems a bit infantilising to dictate to the user base what they can or cannot read like we don’t have media literacy!
 
Like we haven’t all been funnelling even more money into the evil Pumpkin enterprises than the total 4p this vacuous ban has deprived the right wing press of!
 
It has nothing to do with that. It's about not feeding them advertising revenue. You can read whatever website you like and it's on you but the reason for the original move was to deprive them of income - it was Stop Funding Hate that was the original campaign.

"Vacuous" is a very poor word choice - it's the opposite of vacuous, it's based on an understanding that we don't exist in a vacuum!
 
X is clearly the far more dangerous media platform than the DM now but I don’t see anyone clamouring to BAN IT.
 
I support uncensoring the words in sentences but still stopping the links. I'd also stop the Indie with STOP FUNDING CLICKBAIT

Its not censorship of opinions though is it, its to stop people accidentally clicking onto a media platform they fundamentally disagree with.

Clicking on a Mail link and shutting it still generates revenue from display ad impressions. I don’t want to do that and neither do others. Thats why the filter was put in place. No ones stopping you reading it on your own time.

We’re a site where implying that Wes Streeting doesn’t eat babies at EVERY meal is a cause for disdain, but apparently we’re now ok with giving money to right wingers. Fine.
