How do we not have a topic for Mahalia?

21 y.o. British R&B chanteuse responsible for some great songs over the last year or 2 (I Wish I Missed My Ex, Sober, Simmer) but her most recent single with Ella Mai is just brilliant. It's like some long-lost R&B classic.



The Toddla T remix also pushes all the right buttons.

What You Did is the R&B song of the past year, it's fucking sensational. it sounds like an actual unreleased 90s R&B smash. The middle 8 ("did you know you've been the reason I'm so low?") is everything!

I do like Simmer and What You Did. I gave the album a brief go but couldn't get into it.

still haven't listened to the album. i haven't been into an r&b album that isn't mariah the scientist's in a long time.

OK I'm so into Mahalia right now. I feel like she's just super talented and it spills over into everything. her lyrical touch is so casual but insightful.





even the way she writes about texting and phone speak and relates it back to her (apparently always doomed) relationships is and of course What You Did is THAT BITCH.
