He was hobbling around looking like a deflated lilo a few years ago. Seems to have made a bit of a recovery since.

I must say that Iron Maiden made more of an impression on me than Van Haley ever did, but that was mainly owing to Bruce Dickinson’s LUXURIANT CHEST

Ultimately, the man who ruined rock guitar by turning it into a "who has the fastest fingers" contest. Also, he looked so SMUG in the video for "Jump", especially during the keyboard solo so I never really took to him or his band.

Still, he was only 65 and throat cancer is a deeply shitty way to go and one I wish on absolutely no-one so RIP.

They were the second band I ever saw live, although with Sammy Hagar obviously leading at the time.
