I notice that by the time this album came round she'd ditched Dr. Luke and was working with Max Martin and Shellback for the pop hits. I wonder if she realised he was a cunt, just like Kelly did? :disco:

"I Love You" is very breezy, but really elevates itself with the middle eight. by the end it's a full fledged 8

I Love You is kind of a basic sentiment (One Direction) but not bad

9.5 Smile
08 Stop Standing There
07 I Love You

the album has definitely entered a more chill mid-section here. I Love You isn't a standout but it's solid. Everybody Hurts does sound a bit like two different songs playing over the top of each other - conceptual queen!

10 Push
11 Wish You Were Here
08.5 Smile
08.5 Stop Standing There
08 I Love You
07.5 Everybody Hurts

"Everybody Hurts" is a bit too much of a christian pop rock moment for me, but it's decent. Her harmonizing on it is nice.

Not Enough is blurring with the last two tracks, and I think it's the weakest so far. at this point we're in need of a touch of VARIETÉ.

"Not Enough" is an improvement from "Everybody Hurts" but still a bit BEIGE

ok, Not Enough does actually become more impactful at the end. i'm adding HALF A POINT.

The album is a lot less over produced than I remember! Or was she just on a BUDGET? Either way it kind of works in its favor after ten years.

I wish the song was just called For Real. Its not as good as the beginning of the album but better than the last few

the good news is the next few tracks are actually really good. 4 Real is written by her alone and self-produced too :o as is Goodbye still to come. this album was definitely her labour of love / My December moment.

the production is timeless, clean and crisp. and much less "radio pop" than The Best Damn Thing.

ok, properly back on track now with Darlin'. one of my favourites. the chorus is just so sweet. it reminds me very much of various Halsey tracks from Manic and the song of the same name on If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power. love her lower vocals too, and real power in that middle 8.

ugh, the strings at the end. :disco: girl. don't make me get my LIGHTER OUT and SWAY.

Darlin' is about loving a depressed person I guess. For some reason, that sentiment makes me emotional and the song is good too SO I'm giving it a 9.5

her vocals?!? like? a whole fucking SERVE. I would truly kill for a whole album of this from Melissa.

I never really listened to "Alice" since 2010. Didn't know it was tacked on this album. It's no "Keep Hanging On" but I do like it. Again serving the vocals. Shame it flopped.

Are y'all planning on listening to tracks 15-19 or moving onto the next album?

it's way too good to be "just" a soundtrack single.

I found
myself

get back on
my feet again
is this real
is it pretend?
I'll take

until
THE END

I'd be interested in "What the Hell" remix cause i've never heard it but skipping instrumentals and acoustics.

I don't quite see what you do in Alice

Remember When continues her long tradition of bonus tracks that could easily have justified a place on the album proper. this one would've brought some big ballad variety in a sea of midtempos. the strings are delightful.
