A Song For Moopy: Iguana edition - THE RESULTS!

I’m not sure I could deal with a Kala like theme and have to submit my song in one hour

the pressure would be too much

EXACTLY, it would take out a handful of people who just can’t hack it right from the off!

@Iguana what a wonderful extravaganza fiasco fantasy this was :disco:

And I smashed my personal best position in a final with 29th place (forget about the DQs) which I’m taking as a strong and stable mandate to continue opening impressionable Moopy minds everywhere.

congrats to @OutSynk if he hasn’t put me on ignore yet. Your song was no Verona but it was alright

I think if we do a one-nighter, there should be a theme announced at the start of the night, so people can’t think of their entry in advance. Already anticipating the carnage.
I can confirm that this is the case. A theme so no one can prepare.

There will also be a length limit because I will not have ten minute extended mixes clogging up a speed competition.

Loving the insight into this. Interested to know at what stage this bit of paper got screwed into a ball and hurled across the room.

This is going to be nuts. Which day of the week are you planning it? I presume you're relying on less players.

Honestly @Iguana the spreadsheet shit was nothing. This was over and done with in such a regimented tight time frame. Colour me impressed. That's the standard all future hosts should look at.

Honestly I don't think the initial "show interest poll" is necessary. Just dive straight in with sending the songs. There's several other features that keep interest throughout the process.

I imagine @Suomi has had exactly the same thing as me where he has worked 60+ hours this week without breaks whilst managing hundreds of children through a COVID world for the first time. Maybe we could just be aware of other people's circumstances (as both of us have been told to for the last six months of waiting for Kalavision results..? )
This isn't BGT. I'm not here for sob stories.

I think there's a fair argument that even if we don't do semis, a longer voting window (at least spanning two weekends) would give more people enough time to get to know the songs and vote. Voting just based on snippets in the recap video isn't ideal either.

No criticism to Ig though - when people entered they knew the drill. But it's something to keep in mind for the next one.

I think I'd have died this time if I'd had to wait two weeks. But maybe it's just cause I'm not working full time.

I do wonder how many people listened fully to each some once or multiple times and how many skimmed.

I've followed comments pretty closely and I'm confident that at least 80% of those who voted gave the songs a proper listen at least once, and the majority more than once.

I'm agnostic re: semis but I have to say I very much enjoyed that, other than some (but not all!) of the 4 non-voters, everyone stayed interested, engaged and posting throughout the whole month, including yesterday

I think also some of the hype would have died if it had gone on for an extra week

Oh and @David_5000 - not taking it as criticism at all, it's all valid and I think it just needs to be decided on a contest by contest basis. This came after (well, during) 2 contests that have been much longer (Kalavision and Moopyvision) so I think it was nice to have a snappy one and then the next host can choose what to do next
