Lorde - “What Was That” + Album #4 (2 Viewers)

Me still enjoying Solar Power 18 months in ☀️🌞🌅 one of the few artists where I can pick up any album and like most of the songs.

I think Solar Power was very unfairly traduced, but I hope she's got that sound out of her system because I don't need that kind of thing from her twice.

I don't remember much about Solar Power other than "The Path", "California" and the title track. I like those. But it hardly lived up to the first two albums.

I'll be following. My kiwi goodwill has been stretched thin with her after Solar Power and now that I no longer that I live there, but I'll always cheer for her. So much potential.

Her Talking Heads cover was just added on Spotify. Apparently from an upcoming tribute album including covers from various artists.

I don't know the original I think, but this is brilliant. I heard it at the weekend during a sunny bike ride and it really popped off. that production is almost giving INXS Need You Tonight :disco: I would be so happy with this sound from her own new music

THIS IS NOT A DRILL

teasing new music and it sounds BRILLIANT! the spiritual sequel to Green Light we ALL DESERVE!

she sent a text inviting fans to Washington Square Park yesterday to hear the song and then the police shut it down. oops.

song out tomorrow!

I like it. I think we're past the point of the Lorde Law of Diminishing Returns though.

The MDMA reference is a bit cringe, and also (Mary Whitehouse voice) IRRESPONSIBLE

I quite liked it, but can't shake a feeling of underwhelm.

I like it. it's certainly not "quite crap". will be a grower for sure though and I hope the whole album isn't so Melodrama coded.

I do appreciate her minimal production, but this is very unremarkable. Interested to see if the kiwi charts will like it.

I like it! It's very obviously Brat influenced, but it's quite nostalgic of Melodrama too, I appreciate the call-back to Hard Feelings in the production.

Not sure what "MDMA" means, but I'll ask a trusted adult later and see if they know where I might get some.

Also everything from the 2 minute mark onwards is absolutely brilliant.

Honestly another Melodrama would be no bad thing WHATSOEVER! Think this might immediately be in my top 5 of the year so far.

What Was That is solid after a few listens, it’s giving Green Light. But not sure it will take off like it should.

Anyway, Lorde top ten:
1 Perfect Places
2 Team
3 Ribs
4 Yellow Flicker Beat
5 Tennis Court
6 The Louvre
7 girl, so confusing (remix)
8 Homemade Dynamite
9 The Path
10 Green Light

I really should give the last album another chance. I gave up on it pretty quickly aside from the opener.
