10 finalists have been announced for Vidbir 2024 including another 2018 alumnus in the form of UNDERRATED (IMO) Mélovin.

Ukraine sure do love their capitals... The list of finalists is:

– alyona alyona & Jerry Heil
– Drevo
– INGRET
– MÉLOVIN
– NAHABA
– NAZVA
– SKYLERR
– YAGODY
– YAKTAK
– Ziferbla

Also featured is the artist who came third in Vidbir last year who's teamed up with "Ukraine's best loved rapper" who's previously said her style doesn't fit with Eurovision so... Intrigued.

There will be also be a public vote for a wildcard to be an 11th contestant.

Melovin put out a video the other day which I think was wrongly translated to suggest he was terminally ill

He has diabetes

I was imaging some sort of Nazi themed Jerry Hall DRAG PERSONA.

It really should be GORGEOUS Max Barskih with a Ukrainian pop-behemoth.

Absolutely here for the load of old Eurovision 2008 toot that is that Melovin song.

This is another favourite:

Although it goes a bit weird in the last minute. Why is everyone insisting on going weird this year?!

Anyway that's the @ZenGiraffe pick of the bunch.

Hmmm not sure it’s a winner but I do love it.

Hmm it’s okay, a bit structureless though. The best bit is at the beginning.

If that middest of entries can get almost 200 televotes last year though I’m sure this could gift them another win.

Ok really on board with that being a potential winner after a few more listens :eyes::disco:

“Under The Ladder” never did anything for me, but Melovin’s entry fits in nicely with the burgeoning retro dance theme of the year :disco:

Ukraine NF on now.

Quite heartening that they're out of the subways and back in a real studio.

Something I didn't notice at the time was that "Heart Of Steel" was the first time the winner of their NF actually went to ESC since 2018 :D

BTW there's a voiceover translation in English if you click the closed caption button.

You'd have thought they could agree on a dress code.

The performances were all pre-recorded, not sure if the other bits are live?

Wikipedia informs me that Yaktak was born on 4 May 2005, in case you weren't feeling the COLD HAND OF DEATH heavily enough on your back already.

I would absolutely be down for them sending a more fun moment like that to Malmö.
