New ITV reality show, starting tomorrow

A thrilling and high-octane new reality entertainment event, The Fortune Hotel is produced by Tuesday’s Child exclusively for ITV and STV, the 8 episodes x 60 minutes prime-time series will invite viewers into a luxury Caribbean resort filled with glamour, opulence and deception.

Hosted by the incomparable Stephen Mangan, 10 pairs of contestants will arrive at The Fortune Hotel, where they will be given an all-important briefcase. Inside one case is the ultimate jackpot of £250,000 in cash, eight are empty, and one contains the dreaded Early Checkout Card – whichever pair is left holding that case at the end of each show will see their stay brought to a dramatic, premature end.

Every day the contestants have the chance to try to uncover who has which case through playing compelling challenges, and as the “Whogotit” mystery ramps up for the hotel guests, viewers at home will remain deliciously in-the-know throughout, witness to all of their plans and strategies playing out.

The climax of each episode is the nerve-shredding case swap in the seductive Lady Luck bar where each pair must decide whether to keep or swap their case. Have the couple with the life-changing sum of cash managed to bluff and blag their way free of suspicion? Or will their case be ruthlessly taken off them? And who will be left holding the case containing the Early Checkout Card?

Think I may give it a go, although I won't be watching live to claim those ad breaks back. And not wholly convinced at the prospect of Mangan either, but we'll see.

Is this the one that someone mentioned on here a while back that was going to be shown on ITV? Huge in Korea or something?

It's certainly been coming a while. No idea where the format has come from, though.

No, I think that's the Genius Game that David Tennant's going to host.

That’s it! I’ve been trawling through threads looking at where I read it. I’m sure it was on here. 🤷‍♀️

My mum was trying to tell me this is ITV's The Traitors. I'll give it a go but four nights in a row feels a lot.

I imagine ITV are delighted to have it compared.

My worry is that I read it was The Traitors meets Deal Or No Deal, which doesn't fill me with much anticipation. But hopefully that's just lazy writing, based on nothing more on a lot seems to depend on opening a suitcase and what's inside it.

Anybody watching? LOADS of copycat Traitors moments, right down to the haunting ballady music, in this case, Money, Money, Money.

Pass.

Louie from Josh must win in this, wonder if he will be any more likeable

Am I the only one that was getting The Circle vibes at the end?

Would the people who have the check out key not be better to just try and come last in the task if the people in last place must swap their case?

They got very lucky saying they were chasing the cash when really they just wanted her out :D

I imagine most would just swap it back.

What a little BITCH that daughter was. If my daughter shushed me like that every time I tried to speak I think I would slap her.

Really unpleasant. The son who has the cash was quite rude to his mum as well.

There is something I didn't understand; before the task, why did the host ask Gary and Lesley (who had the checkout card) to swap their case with Susan and Jen? That was totally random and I can't see a reason for it. I don't get it.

From the first episode? I didn't get it either but in one the recaps last night it said "...after a surprise swap" so I guess they thought they were just going to discuss who they thought had what and not actually act on it. But yeah I thought it was a bit messy how it was presented.

Our Jo-Ann is clearly the star of this particular show. Likening the dreadful daughter's outburst to the spinning head scene from The Exorcist :D

I did also enjoy 'GREEDY COW' Ayesha and her outburst at the change of rules meaning what was apparently already her money was being taken away.

Thought tonight was even better with the favourites no longer in control! Dare say I was almost captivated by the whole event!

It could do with some string work with who’s swapped with who though.

Episode 4 was amazing! I started watching this out of boredom, but I'm loving it. Spoiler episode 4: the black girls destroying the bar with the excitement :D they're my favourites right now, they're gonna lose it as soon as they open their case :disco:

I guessed this probably wasn't setting the world alight ratings wise, but I see it 'picked up' to 1.3m in the last overnights. Must have been a low base...

Is there another episode tonight? I can't find any info when they're being released.
