He should just have brassed it out. "Lads, it's like this. Liz Truss can deflate an erection at 40 paces so I needed something to keep some life in the old chap, balance things out a bit. If she's talked for any longer, I'd have had an innie, if you know what I'm saying".

Interested to see who out of Labour and the Lib Dems goes harder for this. Though I suspect the Conservatives will hold it either way.

Maybe the wife will run!

Was traditionally firmly lib Dems in second pre coalition and they do much better in council elections, can't see Labour stepping back here though

Yes it will be the LDs whom rise here as the Tories decline. Labour won’t step aside but it will be a token effort (as per North Shropshire where the LDs also came from third).

‘Thank you very much!’

She seems like an awful candidate - by election candidates, particularly when a local person are usually given a fair crack of the whip, but that was a very hostile reception.

What a dreadful woman. I love the fact that towing the party line now makes Tory candidates look totally unelectable to floating voters. Not that they weren't before mind.

I posted it in the other thread without thinking it was more suited to this one, but this is the candidate whose own leaflet doesn't even mention until page four what party she belongs to.

I wonder what cringey stunt Ed Davey has in store for us?
Hope it involves a tractor

Didn't Farage try and pull a disappearing act at one of his (many) election defeats?

People think you're a TWAT already, just stand there and grin and bear it for 6 minutes.

For so long, post-1997, tactical voting between the centre and left parties has been the dog that didn't bark. If it is now then that is significant (it will certainly colour my thinking, living in a seat with a 100 vote Conservative majority, and I cannot be the only one).
