Just had an email from our hosts that in two weeks they will be doing server maintenance that could knock us offline for a bit. Details below for the interested.

Elsewhere, the new version of Xenforo (the forum software we use) is at release candidate stage so will probably be available to install in the next month or so. I'll pop a post in here when I go to do the update but I will have our downtime be much more Buttertart Standard Time friendly.

Please look forward to it

Are you sure that time is right? Eastern Time is 5 hours behind us so that should be 3am to 7am on the 27th by my calculations.

I had an issue first thing this morning, but seemingly okay again now.

All the cool kids use Moopy.org.uk anyway.
I was actually going to ask about that. Is there a reason we have 2 URLs still? It doesn’t seem like they are linked as if you are logged in on .co.uk you’re not logged in on .org.uk

Does it cost us much to have both?

Costs close to fuck all to have both

We have discussed CANONISING before but some people have one URL blocked at work but not the other, so we've left both operational

The latest version of Xenforo has just been released, and I'll probably install it on Moopy early on Monday.

It's mostly performance and other under the hood changes. I may need to tweak the dark mode settings a little once it's installed, but nothing dramatic.

The only other thing I can see that might be of general interest is that logging in may be smoother, if you choose to use a passkey.

Anyone interested in the details can look here:

Doing this in the morning so don't panic if Moopy is gone for a bit, though it shouldn't be inaccessible for more than 10 minutes or so.

This is done. The only unexpected thing is that the addon we had that lets you ignore entire forums has broken, so I am looking for an update/alternative

Thank you for your service.

One weird thing I’ve noticed is that you can’t see your previous posts. If I click on ‘your content’ it only shows me my messages and threads I’ve started.

This is a bug where large forums can't rebuild their search index properly, and will need to be a bugfix from xenforo themselves, which I'll apply as soon as it is available

We can't see how many people are viewing a topic, which was guide to what topic were busy.

I hope all the prudes secretly had their Dark Moopy fill and saw the LIGHT @Mary Whitehouse
I have written a letter to The Times of London regarding this so called "Dark Moopy"

Dear Editor,

It is with profound dismay and indignation that I bring to your attention yet another deplorable source of moral decay in our society. Recently, I came across a forum that shamelessly peddles the most egregious filth imaginable, undermining the very fabric of our community’s decency and virtue. This new affront to public morality is not merely an isolated incident but a glaring example of the ongoing assault on our traditional values.

This forum, under the guise of “entertainment” or “art,” is rife with vulgarity, explicit content, and a flagrant disregard for the principles that uphold our civilization. It is utterly unconscionable that such material is allowed to proliferate, poisoning the minds of our youth and eroding the standards of decency we hold dear, with so called "sexy dogs" and something called "waffle stomp". The mind shudders.

I implore you, as a custodian of public integrity, to take immediate action against this pernicious influence. We must not stand idly by while the purveyors of smut and degradation chip away at the moral foundations of our society. It is our duty to demand stricter regulations and hold accountable those who profit from the spread of such abhorrent content.

Let us rise to the challenge and safeguard the purity and wholesomeness of our cultural environment for the sake of future generations.

Yours sincerely,

Mary Whitehouse
