Thanks to everyone who participated in last week's introductory round, which saw Loreen, Blue and Valentina Monetta (2) advance to the final.

Before we continue, a word on voting. In the usual Moopyvision format, votes should be PM'd to me by 12.00 noon on Sunday 12th January.

Last round, all 17 voters opted to deliver a full vote. I'd strongly encourage this, however, if you don't have the time but would still like to participate by sending me your top 5s from each country, I will try to incorporate your votes in some meaningful way.

Also you're welcome to not vote for every country, although again I'd really prefer it if you did.

Now let's move on to the next batch...

Estonia

Probably the best Eurovision country with the worst winner of all time, Estonia really came into their own in the 2010s. Sometimes they can be a bit too artsy fartsy for their own good, but when they get it right they're a treat. Definitely in my top 5 countries overdue another win.

2010: Malcolm Lincoln - Siren
2011: Getter Jaani - Rockefeller Street
2012: Ott Lepland - Kuula
2013: Birgit Õigemeel - Et uus saaks alguse
2014: Tanja - Amazing
2015: Elina Bor & Stig Rästa - Goodbye To Yesterday
2016: Jüri Pootsmann - Play
2017: Koit Toome & Laura - Verona
2018: Elina Nechayeva - La Forza
2019: Victor Crone - Storm

Italy

After an epic 14 year sulk, Italy returned to Eurovision with a bang in 2011, scoring second place out of the gate and rarely dropping the ball since. Another country that seems all but certain to grab a win in the next few years if their quality control remains as high as it has been...

2011: Raphael Gualazzi - Madness of Love
2012: Nina Zilli - L'amore è femmina
2013: Marco Mengoni - L'essenziale
2014: Emma - La mia città
2015: Il Volo - Grande amore
2016: Francesca Michielin - No Degree of Separation
2017: Francesco Gabbani - Occidentali's Karma
2018: Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro - Non mi avete fatto niente
2019: Mahmood - Soldi

North Macedonia

The Former Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia haven't had the best run at Eurovision, to put it mildly. However, they pulled it together last year with their best result ever, and there's certainly some entertaining stuff to be found in the weeds. Not to potentially steer the voting, but if you can plough through the first two I think everything afterwards is quite a fun little selection.

2010: Gjoko Taneski - Jas Ja Imam Silata
2011: Vlatko Ilievski - Rusinka
2012: Kaliopi - Crno i belo
2013: Esma & Lozano - Pred da se razdeni
2014: Tijana - To The Sky
2015: Daniel Kajmakoski - Autumn Leaves
2016: Kaliopi - Dona
2017: Jana Burčeska - Dance Alone
2018: Eye Cue - Lost & Found
2019: Tamara Todevska - Proud

I could easily give 12 points to 5/6 Macedonian entries. They're probably one of my fav Eurovision nations over the last few years.

Back on topic, I forgot how good Italy was at Eurovision this decade. The constrast with Macedonia was tremendous.

LIVING for the number of NQs.:disco:

Macedonia is one of my least favourite and most despised Eurovision countries - to a LITHUANIAN extent - so imagine how sickened and agog I was to see them do so well in 2019 while my beloved Icelandic friends and obvious winners received paltry jury votes

Just BAN THEM :oi:

I like the Kaliopi ones, quite like about three others, and actively detest the rest.

Also, I forgot how mind-bendingly SHIT Italy's comeback song was. Portugal 2019 was clearly taking notes on how to cobble together a pretentious, unlistenable dirge.

I’d always prefer The Knife to poxy old FYROM, jarring covers notwithstanding. See also: Shaking The Habitual. My eyes! My eyes!

I was going to say that disaster doesn't count but then saw that it was an actual studio album.

Macedonia have sent probably my favourite Eurovision song in the past 5 years.

Macedonia may have the distinction of being the country with the worst record of comprehensively ruining promising entries. I'd say 2015, 2017 and 2018 could all have done much better if not for the horrible staging choices.

I'd add 2014 as well. They killed it STONE DEAD with that performance.

That awful PANT SUIT and the methed up GOLLUM prancing about behind her. :zombie:

I wonder if Tijana will be tempted to have another crack after her sister's success? She's getting on a bit, but it's not as if Macedonia appears to have a particularly deep pool of talent to pull from.

can we skip voting for one of the countries? i'm already scarred from giving any points to entries from san marino.

At the time I was devastated with Dance Alone's crap staging, but in hindsight, it was a masterpiece compared to Lost and Found in 2018!

As I said in the initial post, I would prefer if you voted for all countries, but if you truly can't bring yourself to do it you can pick and choose.
