In spirit if not on record, Croatia won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1989. Following the dissolution of Yugoslavia they enjoyed a truly excellent 90s, but things started to tail off quite dramatically in the 2000s, and by the 2010s they were well and truly in the dumper. Following a two year hiatus, a mild comeback from 2016-2017 at least put them back in the finals, but we're a very long way from the glory days of Doris and Danijela here...

Romania is a country I always assume has a better record at Eurovision than they actually do, results wise. Probably because they're almost always in the finals and they did score a couple of big hits in the 00s. They open this decade with their second (and, to date, last) podium finish, but after that things tailed off quite a bit. Not generally for want of trying, though.

Infamously disqualified in 2016 for failing to pay the bills on time, so no sign of chubby funster Ovidiu Anton I'm afraid.

Oh, the Swiss. First ever Eurovision winners was back in 1956 and again in 1988 with no less a figure than Celine Dion. By God was it slim pickin's after that though...

I'll say this, most of these songs are more aggressively mediocre than downright bad, and they did manage to rouse themselves at the end of the decade to land their first top five placing in 25 years. So y'know, anything's possible...

2014: Sebalter - Hunter of Stars
2015: Mélanie René - Time to Shine

I thought she was getting her squats in. The Swiss never skip leg day!
I'm just off the phone with her now. Apparently, she'd put her pants on the wrong way round and she was just trying to dislodge them from her crevice without having to stick a hand down and do it manually. Anyway, she sends her love.

I totally forgot about this (I assume as everyone else :D) Are you doing this tomorrow then? Just to know if I have some more days to vote.

Only 9 votes in so far, OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH, so I'll extend the voting.

And I had some free time today as well!

Well I would have voted yesterday if you have bothered answering a simple yes/no question. It's not like you are bothered with this much more than us, dear VoR.
