Black Diamond possibly UNJANCELLED! :o

her team accidentally put out this press release before taking it down. new single this year, new album in '22 :disco:

if you can't be arsed reading the full thing, it basically says she says she couldn't release due to various world events but now that Afghanistan is in such dire crisis, the people need new Jam & Lewis tunes.

Janet Jackson announced that she will release a new album in 2022, and that a new single will arrive by the end of this year via her label, Rhythm Nation Records.

Jackson offered no additional details about the forthcoming single, although she did reveal production credits for the album, which will be her first since 2015ā€™s Unbreakable. The album will find her reuniting with production/songwriting duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, as well as collaborating with Darrel Randle, Ralph Johnson (a founding member of Earth, Wind & Fire), Siedah Garret, and Marcel East.

The news comes in advance of the release of Janet, a four-hour documentary that chronicles her personal life and career that arrives in January via Lifetime and A&E. She executive-produced the documentary alongside Randy Jackson.

The Ben Hirsch-directed two-part film will include archival footage, never-before-seen home videos, and celebrity interviews, including chats with Missy Elliott, Paula Abdul and Mariah Carey. It follows Jackson and her family following the death of her father Joseph, the patriarch of the Jackson dynasty who died in 2018. Jackson also discusses her 2004 Super Bowl performance with Justin Timberlake, the death of her brother Michael Jackson, and becoming a mother.

Jackson was originally slated to release her 12th studio album Black Diamond along with an accompanying tour in 2020, but both were postponed due to the pandemic.

Earth, Wind & Fire collab -- are we getting DISCO JANFT?

Loving the spin that if Afghanistan is in a jam, Jan should should get in one too (but with whoever that hangers-on Lewis is).

I saw the trailer for her docu the other day, set for next year. I can only hope LaToya upstages her and does her own one.

As far as I'm concerned, Janet truly found her lane with Unbreakable and I'm more excited about new music from her than I've ever been (I wasn't into VR until after the fact and my first album experience was "I didn't even get to cum" so the bar was buried under cement let alone raised any).

Anyway, the sooner we all prepare for Lady J'Jackson.Ī”17 the better.

Canā€™t wait. Iā€™m glad it looks quite revealing and laden with unseen footage. Was nervous it was going to be the same ā€œmy dad was very strictā€ ā€œI was shy growing upā€ schtick that weā€™ve been fed for decades. It looks to be that to an extent but it seems like it will go deeper. Hopefully Justin gets dragged. Would also love to hear more about the TVR era too - she rarely talks about it but she suffered from some serious demons that era IIRC.

Someone compiled her top streamed songs on UKMix in advance of the documentary. Her numbers don't compete with Mariah, Madonna, or Whitney, but interesting nonetheless. "Made for Now" did quite decent despite not taking off anywhere.

Made For Now felt like it did as well as a Janet Jackson single could possibly be expected to do in 2018. Why did they never follow it up?!

Is there a composite of top tracks of the Big Five (Mariah, Whitney, Janet, CĆ©line and Marge) on streaming?

I reckon Mimi Is number 1, followed by Nippy and then Celine and Midge, with Janette rounding up the Top 5 (but distantly so.)

Of course Brit Brit & Shaki dwarf them all when it comes to 'pre-2000' females but let's not do that. :eyes:

Well Midge is not her for popularit. Artists are here to disturb the peace!! Just like she did in the '90s while the vocal powerhouses were singing love songs.

Don't know you that MADAME X is her EROTICA for the '10s. And WHAT!
