What is your favourite? What is the WORST?

I found this again recently and it has to be up there near the top.

YES! The little intro theme tune (not so much the ACTUAL gameplay music) is one of my absolute FAVOURITES.

Has anyone been to those Video Games Live concerts? I've been twice (once in London years ago, then more recently in Glasgow) and they were great fun. The only downsides were the inclusion of some random shit due to contractual reasons or whatever (as if anyone wanted to hear fifteen minutes of tunes from ADVENT RISING :zombie:), and having to spend time in a highbrow venue surrounded by 'GAMERS' (some of whom are okay individually but as a collective they really are fucking terrible :daf:)

Very specifically, the background music from Fiji in Tekken 1 for the PS1, which was a weird pacific calypso TREAT. The Chicago and Windermere ones were also great, and in an ideal world I would play the St. George's Island music on a Christmas morning :shy:

My absolute favourite BAR NONE. One of the real pinnacles of J-POP MADNESS. I always turn up the amp SO LOUD for this one and the final section of the chorus gets me going every time :disco:

And I can ace the stage too I've played it so many times.

I've bought a few game soundtracks and my favourites are the ones for Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus. The "Heal/Save" music from Ico is actually one of the alarm ringtones on my phone. It's so soothing, it's lovely to wake up to.

If I had to pick a single track, it would be "Prologue ~To the Ancient Land~" from Shadow though. Amazing and set the tone perfectly for what was to come.

Oh YES

My sister and I used to play it on the C64 (which was quite brilliant by the way). All you could hear coming from the play room were screams of "OHMYGODBARONVONBLUBBA!!!111!!!11!", "You stole the BANANA" and "BUBBLE me UP! QUICKLY!" (which meant blow bubbles for me to bounce up on to kill baddies/get the umbrella/grab some fruit/etc.) :D

Oh I forgot about Gitaroo Man! I loved loved that song from when it came on a demo disc. I would just play it over and over again with the speakers turned up loud and then I bought the full game which turned out to be right proper bitch towards the end.

I know it’s not technically game music but Chicago - You’re The Inspiration used in Elite Beat Agents is 100% heart breaking (you got the best of me)

God yeah, it got really ridiculously hard by the time you were having to do three battles with the same health bar (or something like that). Didn't you have to do some kind of merengue track up against three sets skeletons which was pretty tricky but it was the battle in the church against that creep on the pipe organ that used to do for me 9/10 times.

I used to struggle with that dub reggae track in space too. It was so slow after insanity like "Flying To Your Heart" that I could never adjust quickly enough.
