I can’t believe they still had that statue then.
The city's wealth is built on the slave trade. Something it still hasn't learned how to address in the current day. I believe Liverpool has a similar struggle.

Glasgow too. There's a campaign to rename the streets whose names are related to the slave trade. The usual flagwavers are, of course, appalled. Glasgow has a LOT of gammon.
I have no issue with toppling a statue but that's just hilarously melodramatic.I've just seen that, as part of the protest, someone knelt on the statue's neck for 8m 46s.
I literally cannot understand people who have the energy to complain about a RACIST STATUE being pulled down
