They both did the scenes justice, especially Shona, who's an old soap pro now. He wasn't bad either. I'm glad they didn't use the old soap tropes for those kind of scenes i.e. angry partner, characters not understanding the terminology etc. Soap awards all round!

Just caught the last ten minutes of this and it really was like a greatest hits compilation of Eastenders tropes.

Dead baby!
Terminal illness!
Jean being gormless!
Kat looking an absolute state!
LadsLadsLads on an absolutely joyless night out!
That one club that opens in the mid-afternoon and plays dated pop at an inoffensive volume!

And Fleur from Ab Fab! I think she'll be great, but I am surprised by the recast as the previous actress felt quite well established over the years. I wonder if she just preferred doing short stints and didn't want to become a regular?
 
Colin Salmon is good from the few things I've seen him in - he was in a particularly memorable Doctor Who two-parter in 2008 that's one of my favourites. He also got sliced up by lasers in the original Resident Evil film :D

I think Maria Friedman has too much of a theatre career (directing! singing! acting! but not dancing as far as i'm aware!) to do it full time.

Harriet Thorpe feels more suited to be building a new family around too, tbh. It feels mad she's not been in a soap before? Although normally when I say that about someone I'll google and they've done like 3 years in Emmerdale
 
Salmon also famous for being a not very interesting side character in the Pierce Brosnan Bond films of course.
 
IMDB says she's escaped Emmerdale, although she appears to have played 5 completely different characters in DOCTORS between 2008 and 2021. Impressive.

It reminds me of the story Catherine Tate used to tell about how when she finished drama school she discovered that you could be a guest star on The Bill as a different character as long as you left at least six months between appearances, and thought she'd discovered a job for life :D
 
Caught up on this earlier, OMG at Vicki Michelle - I hope she sticks around, she has the potential to be an amazing evil scrag end.
 
Whatever happened to the Muslim community centre they were going to put in that building? I know nearly all the Muslim characters have since left, but still...
