I do enjoy this VILE show

The Ru girl is Jade Jolie by the way

I binged all three seaosns of Dragula during lock down last year and loved it! Very much here for a new season :disco:

Do we have any DRAGULA QUEENS? The new series started this week and the cast is STACKED! The runway this week was SO STRONG, even the bottom queens didn't even vaguely embarrass themselves.

A LINK if needed -

There are two CLEAR front runners for me
HoSo is giving me Vander mark 2, and I will be gagged if they don't win HOWEVER Sigourney Beaver is basically the third Boulet Brother :D Stars BOTH. Reminds me somewhat of Seymone/Mik on Drag Race where both deserved to win a season

But the whole cast is great! The poor show suffers however from TERRIBLE editing. The opening 10 minutes was scrappy as hell, and somewhat hard to follow, and the haunted house segment was good in concept but MESSY in reality.

Kind of obsessed with Bitter Betty as a reality TV character. I understand she's a bit problematic off-show, but having seen her in action I'm assuming she's just a MOUTHY OLD LUSH rather than some sort of evil hateful being. She reminded me of Maddelyn Hatter in that's she's clearly been cast to cause camp drama, which I'm of course 100% on-board with :disco:

Everyone should be watching this! Such fun. Drag Race feels so BENIGN once you've wallowed in the (slightly shonky) filth of this.

Isn’t that the TAWDRY FUN OF IT though!

I keep meaning to get into Dragula, and I've heard that this is a good season to jump into (others to confirm please!)
YES! You’ll love it tbc

...although I thought Season 4 was great and you can get through that without waiting a week for a new episode, etc

Isn't this season 4?

I've watched the first three but haven't started on this yet.

Not for me!

The drag is interesting (if you're into queens vomiting up fake blood especially so :eyes:) but it's so padded out with those fuck awful skits and scenes. Plus the challenges are just rotten - I don't need to see gurls eating cow's brains to try and avoid elimination.

It does make you realise how hard it is to get a product as slick as Drag Race, so there is that :D

Yes, I like how it is a lot more unconventional, unpredictable and just more queer all round I guess than drag race, but sometimes it veers too far into performance art doing an I'm A Celebrity challenge.

Oh yeah whoops, Season 3 then. It was a big step up production-wise

Three to four is another step up? That's good to know. I can't remember if it was one to two or two to three which was very noticeable.

Again whoops, I was saying 2 to 3 was! 3 to 4 is kind of as well though

I think season 1 may still be my favourite, but mainly because the winner was one of the best contestants I've ever seen on a show like this.

2 had a great cast, and an iconic top 3 but was let down a bit by some of the challenges. It had lots of weird outdoor and acting challenges, whereas I'm much more about the LOOKS and DRAMA for Dragula. Some properly GROTTY elimination challenges though, which I personally had to just skip as I got no enjoyment watching them.

3 again had an iconic cast - especially Maddelynn Hatter and Hollow Eve - the post binary drag socialist. WITH A PENCHANT FOR ANARCHY.

Another amazing winner and final 3 also, but it was all a bit overproduced.

Season 4 is GREAT so far. A bulletproof cast that are bringing drama AND looks :disco:

The floor show in episode 3 was INCREDIBLE. Even the weakest looks were still good.
Sigourney's was stunning, I couldn't believe she had made both garments. Dahli and La Zevaleta also being a rare case of a similar idea totally complimenting each other, rather than detracting from. Hoso remains the obvious front-runner for me, even if the judges don't seem to be showing the love I expected.

THAT SAID, that Merrie and Jade Jolie are still there over the 3 queens that have been eliminated is a...choice :eyes:
Astrud in particular was obviously eliminated way too early. This alone is absolutely beautiful, and I would have loved to have seen it on the show -

Finally: HI ORVILLE PECK <3 (even though you were pretty useless as a judge lol)

I think I would be legit scared to go to a show

This is SUCH a good season. Probably the best Dragula season of all. I am IN LOVE with Dahli. Incredible that I can't really remember anything about them from their season 2 run.

A Dahli/Sigourney double-crowning would feel totally correct, but I think as ever that it's going to come down to the final episode - which in many ways makes it a lot more exciting than a Drag Race finale.

Nobody watching? This has been the best Dragula season BY FAR, and relatively light on the gross-out extermination challenges.
I love that it focused so much on the queens and their runways, rather than lame acting challenges - it really helped to showcase the entire cast much better than in other seasons.

I'd have taken any of the final 4 as the winner tbh, but the one that won was just :disco:
