I’m slightly surprised – you live in London don’t you? I’m not quite your age but I’m only a couple of years younger, and most of my mates (the gays anyway) are still down for doing loads. The single ones more-so, and to be fair we don’t go out and about quite like we used to (being in your 30’s I’ve found I certainly don’t have FOMO or look forward to a quiet week just as much as a busy one), but it’s certainly not home –NetFlix – Bed by ten pm. We still can head for a night out once or twice a month – usually somewhere like The Eagle rather than GAY these days – or go to the gay theatre, or do a Sunday picnic-and-drinks session in the summer months, or just jump on time-out and find an outdoor cinema for a warm Wednesday or check out a pop up food spot on a random Thursday.
Yeah, routine is probably more part of life at this age, but of all the places in the world where there seems to not be a ‘life is finished at 35 if you are single’ you’re certainly in the right one. Things like MeetUp, Social groups etc all work. I’ve even found when I first arrived using Apps like the old Grindr, Scruff etc is a way you can actually make some pretty good connections so long as you make it very clear what you are after and don’t just give in and become friends with benefits on the second time you meet etc.
