Glastonbury 2022

After reading all the McCartney love on twitter this morning, I don't think I've ever been so appreciative of a moopy thread.

Given that he's eighty now, I wonder if this will be his last BIG performance? In which case fair enough, though I do wonder if he'll just keep going on and on forever - the Ken Barlow of pop.

I'm kind of :( that I've been here for the duration and can't see ANY of it properly. But then I'm not big on festivals either, see the queues for toilets/food/drink and feel grateful to be out of it. Though as an entirely sober person having to navigate the crowd occasionally, I'm surprised at how "together" and well behaved everyone has been. People seem focused on having a good time and just happy its back which is nice. You'd encounter more trouble in any random town on a weekend.

Though I have been positioned nearer The Park Stage so I got to hear (and sort of see, at a stretch) Jessie's set which sounded spectacular. So happy she got to headline that stage. I haven't been familiar with too many but there have been some real treats there - Confidence Man especially I wasn't aware of but kept wanting to sneak at look at whoever was giving us those bops and it was them. Mitski sounded great and Four Tet were a great closer Friday.

It seems The Park Stage has a TBC act at 6.15 unless that's changed. Maybe it's MEL C. Probably not but she is here

Homophobia Part 67 - apparently Jessie Ware was due to come into the Park Stage studio to be interviewed after her set but I had to let a girl out who was supposed to run and tell her NOT TO BOTHER because McCartney's set was running over and the focus was on that even though there was a couch and presenter there. However when the girl arrived Jessie had already FLED in a car so I like to think she heard this news and thought FUCK 'EM and ran.

I'm just  because my chance of having Jessie brush within an inch and having a full blown conversation starting and ending with "erm hello thanks"* or something awkward and unintelligible has been snatched because of HIM

*very likely wouldn't have even amounted to that much but that's not the point

Just watched Self Esteem’s set and legit sobbed through half of it. I love her and her Meadowhall titty corset

I *think* Radio 6 are playing Go_A.

There's only so much Ukrainian folk techno.

From what I saw Olivia looked really good.

Watching her set now. She's great! Also did a cover of Complicated by AvLav. Nice to see a zoomer with some appreciation for CLASSIC ROCK :disco:

I didn’t realise she was on til later. Only tuned in for Stop…In The Name Of Love. What have we missed?

I’m Coming Out
I Love You More Today (Than Yesterday)
Stop! (In The Name of Love)
Baby Love
You Can’t Hurry Love

That’s it so far I think

Glastonbury never brings out the best of anyone vocally but there’s some real wobbles here. This is her strongest song so far…

She was even worse in London the other night to the extent I thought she was going to pull the plug 6-7 songs in.
