Geri still giving Geri-level choreo. Love seeing these five icons together.

Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe

Obsessed with this. It's giving Tori A for Gen Z.

Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department (out April 19th)

This feels like a real slog seven songs in. I've never been fully convinced by her, and am somewhat mystified by her utter commercial dominance, but I've bopped to my fair share of songs over the last decade.

Beyoncé - act ii: COWBOY CARTER

Paul McCartney has never been able not to stan when a real vocalist comes to play on one of his songs Let's not forget when he asked Mariah to unleash her power :disco:

I am just completely obsessed with this album. I can understand where Sheena's criticism comes from. But personally, this bloated, self-indulgent, sprawling mess is doing it for me.

    Mariah's 16th studio album

Post-Cowboy Carter, I am nervous. Please bring you A-game, Mariah.

In a typical turn of events, a clutch of tracks which didn't immediately stand out have revealed themselves to me this weekend and I'm now obsessed with ALLIIGATOR TEARS, JUST FOR FUN and II HANDS II HEAVEN. I've come this close to deleting TEXAS HOLD 'EM - not because it's bad but it's just not...

    Let’s rank Beyoncé songs

The absolute PAUCITY of stuff from the first three albums is just testament to how good the 4-onwards era has been. I think this tracks with my general feeling that BEYONCÉ and RENAISSANCE are my two absolute tops. I'm allowed myself the indulgence of two COWBOY CARTER tracks for now, somewhat...

I like the theory that she make CC before Renaissance - it makes sense as the album starts out more traditionally, and then morphs into something closer to Renaissance. If you cue up I'm That Girl after AMEN, it makes for a fabulous "time jump".

Beyoncé - act ii: COWBOY CARTER

If we take 1998 as her debut, we're - what? - 26 years deep into her career. And she's still making culture-defining moments and taking over the charts. Not to compare her to any other artists, but let's just say... your fave could never

Jolene really is the weak link for me. I think a Jolene-sampling remix à la BREAK MY SOUL (THE QUEENS REMMIX featuring Queen Mother Madonna) would have been a better way to reference or not reference.

I was in my bag for Renny, babe. Only the first listen of ARTPOP rivals it as a total fucking trip. But you're right, the amorphous song structures and sheer cuntiness were probably inaccessible to the heteronorms. The first 10 tracks on Cowboy Carter are accessible enough (we have two covers...

Very preliminary Top 5 1. BODYGUARD 2. AMERICAN REQUIEM 3. DAUGHTER 4. TYRANT 5. FLAMENCO / JUST FOR FUN But I find it hard to pull them apart. This is probably her most inaccessible work other than BLACK IS KING, which I have never managed to penetrate.
