I have a whole list of songs I shortlisted for Kalavision part one when we needed to find songs attached to countries. I've just been picking from there!
 
Honestly, I'm not sure I'd play in a future contest with semi finals. If you don't think you have time to listen to 40 songs in a week then don't enter, the rest of us can have a contest with 30 songs and you can still vote if you do find the time to listen properly.
 
I am very much in the NO SEMI FINAL’s camp. Not that I have the technical abilities to ever run one, but when I inevitably come last in a semi final I have no interest in voting in another semi that I am not involved in, nor a final that I have no interest in as I am a NARCISSISTIC BITCH.

Yeah - entering is the easy bit. I had to clear the decks to do my votes for this because I had a wee bit too much on the go. That did give me pause over giving whether or not to enter a bit of thought next time.

Also - the big mistake I made with the indoor scavenger hunt was having knockouts. Once people are "out", they lose investment. You could see how into this so many people were in the reveal thread. Of course, the enthusiasm and enjoyment of this particular ASFM must be credited to @Iguana who played an absolute blinder with the hosting.

And I agree with @Tisch that it isn't the end of the world if people can't commit to playing it on loop for a week. So what if some people only have time to blast out a quick listen on a sunday afternoon? It's still fun.

it’s just personally I feel like I’m basically cheating if I do that. And the person who misses out is me because I take the 126pt penalty.

And yes you probably shouldn’t enter when you are likely to be busy coming up but you can’t always predict EXACTLY how busy you’re going to be. I think the penalty is more than enough of a deterrent, rather than a ban from entering the next competition.
 
Surely if someone can commit to doing one they can and from there they can sort out their own way of running it.

Open choice is great but I'm all for themes weaved in every so often. I love a theme.

It should be down to the person who runs it to decide the structure of it and how it is being run. It's their competition, so it's their prerogative.

No one is forcing you to take part if you don't agree with the format, but it seems a bit much to refuse to take part because of it. We're never going to please everyone 100% of the time so everyone has to make some concessions at some point or another.
